Job Summary

The Temporary Instructional Designer will design, develop, and revise engaging learning experiences and instructional materials in collaboration with subject matter experts and key partners. This role applies instructional design and adult learning principles to develop effective training solutions that support organizational and learner needs.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Design and develop instructor-led, online, and blended learning materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter authorities to translate content into clear, engaging instructional experiences.
  • Apply instructional design principles and adult learning standard processes.
  • Develop course materials, activities, assessments, job aids, and other learning resources.
  • Review training content for clarity, accessibility, and effectiveness.
  • Support course implementation, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Meet established timelines.

What You Should Know

This is a part-time temporary position.

What We Can Offer

The hourly rate for this temporary position is $60.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • 3+ years of professional, job related experience.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and learning standard processes.

What You Will Need

  • Strong writing, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a temporary/project-based environment
  • Knowledge of learning technologies, online learning environments, and instructional development processes.
  • Skill in designing clear, engaging, and accessible learning materials for diverse audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter authorities, partners, and project teams.
  • Ability to analyze learning needs and translate complex information into effective instructional content.
  • Ability to lead multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a temporary/project-based environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and quality assurance skills.

What We Would Like You to Have

Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
Experience with multimedia development, including video, audio, graphics, and interactive learning content.
