JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL FUNCTION


Provides technical support in maintaining FGX International's distribution center automation equipment by performing routine diagnostic checks and preventative maintenance on automated systems, isolating problems and performing mechanical, electronic, and computerized repairs.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Working closely with Engineers and Tech Support Technicians to make adjustments, upgrades and improvements on automated equipment.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with systems, and determining if the problem is mechanical, electrical or from the computer systems controlling the process.
  • Repairing or replacing any necessary components, such as a sensor or electrical wiring and implementing solutions that will prevent the problems from recurring.
  • Assembling and commissioning fixtures, equipment, machines, and robotic equipment.
  • Assisting with applications development, as needed.
  • Maintaining, servicing and documenting equipment changes and providing feedback to Tech Support and Automation teams.
  • System expert of manufacturing robotics including repair/replacement of all mechanical, electrical, or electronic subsystems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment and thoroughly document all actions and repairs in the SAP Plant Maintenance Module
  • Ensure rapid equipment return to service by performing thorough in-depth troubleshooting on any non-functioning or faulted system, subsystem or component.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using computer interfaces and custom software.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and service manuals.
  • Responsible for cleanup of equipment and removal of replaced parts from work areas after repairs are completed.
  • Responsible for reporting safety concerns as well as follow up on any safety issues


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associates degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or certification from technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance
  • 3+ years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment
  • Strong analytic skills to understand automated systems and isolate problems
  • Familiarity with controls software
  • Must have a working understanding of DC, AC and stepper motors, PLC and digital I/O logic, various sensors including proximity, ultrasonic and photoelectric.
  • Experience with 120V-220V and 3 phase 480VAC
  • VFD/PLC/HMI troubleshooting experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of robotics/HMI/PLC
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Problem solving skills. Ability to get and analyze information and use them on the field
  • Team player with a "can do" attitude
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Experience with robotics simulator
  • Experience with ABB, Denso, and Fanuc robots
  • Experience with vision systems
  • SAP or any CMMS experience
  • CNC machinery
