Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for coordinating the procurement, stocking, distribution, and tracking of supplies, equipment, and materials for the behavioral health hospital. This role supports daily supply chain operations, including ordering, receiving, inventory control, vendor coordination, management of the CAPRAC process for departmental supply and equipment requests, and participation in Environment of Care (EOC) Committee activities and environmental rounds. The position also assists with minor IT tasks such as toner replacement, basic troubleshooting, and coordinating small equipment repairs or replacements. The Purchasing Specialist ensures timely availability of supplies and supports operational efficiency through accurate documentation, responsive service, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • BLS/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain per facility requirements)
  • Handle With Care Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Verbal De-escalation Training (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean driving record

Qualifications

Experience

  • Required:One (1) to three (3) years of purchasing, inventory management, materials management, supply chain, or related experience
  • Preferred:Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, hospital operations, or a similar environment
    Licensure / Certification
Essential Responsibilities
  • Manage purchasing, ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of supplies, equipment, and materials throughout the hospital.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock to support daily operations and patient care.
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, product issues, and procurement needs.
  • Support departmental supply and equipment requests through the CAPRAC process.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and receiving records.
  • Participate in Environment of Care (EOC) activities and environmental rounds.
  • Provide basic support for office equipment, including toner replacement and routine troubleshooting.
  • Assist with coordinating minor equipment repairs and replacements with vendors and support services.
  • Analyze inventory usage and purchasing trends to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Deliver responsive customer service to hospital departments and support operational excellence.
