Windows and Microsoft Platform Engineering, Senior Manager

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is looking for a Windows and Microsoft Platform Engineering Senior Manager to join our Global Information Services team in Pittsburgh, PA. The Senior Manager will lead a global team of employees, contractors, and off-shore resources specializing in Microsoft technologies. This role is responsible for architecting, maintaining, and advancing both the on-premises Microsoft environment and cloud-based platforms, including Azure and Microsoft 365. As the subject matter expert for corporate Microsoft solutions, the successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with proven leadership and management skills to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Major Activities/Key Challenges

• Develop, implement, evaluate, procure, and/or support computer systems and information solutions that meet the needs of the customer and add the most value to the company. This is to be accomplished by utilizing technically sound methods of investigation, analysis, design, planning, and scheduling.
• Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction in order to identify and recommend computer and business solutions to effectively and efficiently satisfy the data processing and information requirements of the business.
• Maintain a high level of security governed in concert with our office of Information Security team.
• Architect approaches for new acquisitions or divestitures as needed.
• Manage advanced Tier 3 reactionary support and/or preventive maintenance processes.
• Provide advice and counsel to the customers of the systems in assigned area(s) of responsibility, and to other GIS-IT personnel.
• Manage the Expert Service Agreement (ESA) process in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Operate within Howmet IS standards and conventions and applicable Howmet Business Unit IT standards.
• Identify, establish and support value-added cross-functional data and system linkages.
• Ensure appropriate methodologies are followed, support processes and procedures are in place, and key system/quality indicators are measured, where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with all guidelines detailed in the Howmet IT Audit & Compliance Standards (with a specific focus on business partnerships, change control, disaster recovery, and security) for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Manage an on- and off-shore model that provides development and/or support solutions in the assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Conduct coaching, counseling, and annual performance reviews for employees in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Pursue continuous learning consistent with the movement in job requirements, changes in technology, changes in the organization, and changes in the company (i.e., Business Units and Resource Units).
• In addition to individual priorities, manage multiple system services or multiple larger projects including project estimates, status communications, and schedules; monitor the plans including periodic review with those managing the day-to-day activities; manage the process established for emergency system and project support; direct the day-to-day activity for the team.
• Lead the discovery, planning and implementation of process improvements in individual tasks and in the work team.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited institution or 8 years of relevant experience in Information Technology accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in design, configuration, implementation and support of Windows hardware and software.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in ITIL v.4 preferred
• Certification in Microsoft Azure, M365, Exchange or other Microsoft technologies
• Sound understanding of Enterprise scale multi-site/country Windows Environments including Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server, Azure, Entra AD, Entra Connect, SCCM, SCOM, M365 Exchange, Intune, PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and/or VMWare
• Understanding of how to securely implement technologies in a global hybrid cloud environment and work within a security framework across all levels of infrastructure.
• Familiarity with information technology operations within a manufacturing facility and the various isolation techniques used for the process control areas.
• Experience implementing and/or managing M365 and Azure environments.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage medium/large projects, provide direction to other project teams
• Broad knowledge and understanding of physical server and virtual server technologies
• Familiarity with the following technologies would be a plus: Enterprise Storage, Storage Area Networking, Oracle and SQL databases, and LAN/WAN networking.

Salary range: $135-155k/year approximation (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
