Position Overview
The Medical Device Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials and manufactured components to ensure they meet engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable procedures. This role uses precision measurement equipment and metrology techniques to identify defects, verify dimensional requirements, and document inspection results. The successful candidate will maintain high attention to detail, accurately record inspection data, and work collaboratively with production and quality teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials and components against engineering drawings, specifications, and established quality requirements.
• Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gage pins, plug gages, thread gages, and other precision measurement equipment.
• Use metrology techniques to verify product dimensions and identify defects or nonconformances.
• Operate optical measurement equipment or Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) when applicable.
• Review inspection results and determine whether materials meet established acceptance criteria.
• Enter inspection and acceptance data into SAP or applicable ERP systems.
• Document nonconforming materials and enter failure data into applicable quality systems.
• Identify and communicate defects, discrepancies, and quality concerns.
• Follow applicable GMP procedures, work instructions, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with quality and production teams to support manufacturing activities.
• Adapt to changing assignments and production priorities as needed.
• Support overtime requirements based on production schedules and incoming material volumes.

Job Requirements

• Previous material inspection or quality inspection experience required.
• Experience using precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, thread gages, and gage pins required.
• Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with metrology and dimensional inspection preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to identify defects, flaws, and dimensional nonconformances.
• Basic math skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to learn and use ERP and quality management systems; SAP experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to follow established procedures and quality requirements consistently.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
• ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 experience preferred.
• Medical device or other regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
• Optical measurement machine or CMM experience preferred.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Experience

• Previous material inspection, quality inspection, or metrology experience required.
• Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience working with GMP requirements or in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with optical measurement equipment or CMM preferred.
