Mustang Rental Services is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for our growing rental business.

This is a key financial leadership role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, balance sheet, internal controls, and accounting processes. The Controller will oversee accounting activities across our rental operations and partner closely with Operations, Fleet, Sales, Service, Procurement, FP&A, and executive leadership.

What You'll Do as Controller

The Controller will serve as the financial steward of Mustang Rental Services, with responsibility for the accuracy, control, and consistency of the company's accounting and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet, reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements
• Oversee accounting for the rental fleet and other fixed assets, including acquisitions, depreciation, capitalization, transfers, disposals, and asset sales
• Establish and maintain strong accounting controls around capital expenditures and asset management
• Develop and maintain accurate branch, departmental, and business-unit P&L reporting
• Provide leadership and oversight for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, and related accounting functions
• Monitor working capital, including receivables, payables, accruals, inventory, and prepaid expenses
• Strengthen financial controls, approval processes, segregation of duties, and documentation standards
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility and identify accounting or process issues affecting reported profitability
• Lead improvements to financial systems, accounting workflows, reconciliations, reporting, and automation
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and lead resolution of audit findings
• Lead, develop, and retain accounting and finance team members
• Build scalable accounting processes that support continued business growth
• What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 8+ years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience
• Strong experience with financial close, financial reporting, general ledger, balance sheet management, and internal controls
• Experience with fixed assets, depreciation, capital expenditures, and asset disposal accounting
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams and improving financial processes
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• Strong analytical, communication, and business-partnership skills

Highly Preferred:

• CPA or CMA
• Experience in equipment rental, heavy equipment, dealership, construction, industrial services, distribution, or another asset-intensive industry
• Experience supporting a multi-location operating business
• Experience with branch or departmental P&L reporting
• Experience improving ERP, financial reporting, and accounting processes
