Position Summary

The Oil Treatment Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing frying oil quality used in the production of corn dogs and other battered products. This position ensures oil treatment systems operate effectively, supports food safety and quality standards, minimizes waste, and maintains compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. The technician works closely with production, quality assurance, sanitation, and maintenance teams to maximize fryer efficiency and product quality. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.

Essential Functions



  • Monitor fryer oil condition throughout production shifts using established testing procedures and quality standards.


  • Operate and maintain oil filtration, treatment, and recovery equipment.


  • Conduct routine oil quality testing, including free fatty acid (FFA), total polar materials (TPM), color, temperature, and other required measurements.


  • Add fresh oil and approved treatment products according to established operating procedures.


  • Document oil usage, treatment activities, test results, and inventory records accurately.


  • Identify and report oil quality concerns that may impact product quality, food safety, or production efficiency.


  • Assist in troubleshooting oil treatment equipment and coordinate repairs with Maintenance when needed.


  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on filtration and oil treatment systems.


  • Ensure fryer systems are operating within established processing parameters.


  • Monitor oil consumption and recommend improvements to reduce waste and operating costs.


  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP plans, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.


  • Support production changeovers and sanitation activities involving fryer systems.


  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.


  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fryer performance and product quality.


  • Comply with all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and company policies.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.



All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.

Physical Requirements

Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:



  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.


  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.


  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, and reach as required.


  • Ability to work in hot environments near fryers and cooking equipment.


  • Ability to wear required PPE, including heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear.



Qualifications



  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.


  • Must be able tosubmitand pass a criminal background check, drug screen, andE-verify.


  • Must be able to read and writeEnglish.


  • Must have basic math skills.


  • Must have reliable transportation.


  • HS diploma or equivalent.


  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.


  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.


  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.


  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and clean up preferred.


  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.


  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits fortheircoworkers.


  • Must be able to safelyoperateforklift and/or pallet jack.


  • Must wear companyprovidedPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE).
