Tite: Java Developer - Mid-Level Location : MI Ann Arbor 4 days on site and one remote day - if their meeting expectations. Duration: 12 Months We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the thinkorswim Charting team. In this role, you will design, develop, and support backend services that power charting, market data, and analytics capabilities used by active traders every day. You'll work closely with engineers, product owners, and technology partners to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions in an Agile environment. This is an opportunity to contribute to a highly visible platform while growing your technical expertise and taking ownership of features from design through production support. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting charting and market data applications. * Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support. * Collaborate with product owners, business partners, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. * Design and implement APIs and service integrations that support internal and client-facing applications. * Analyze and resolve application defects, production issues, and performance bottlenecks. * Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices. * Support release activities and help maintain system stability, availability, and performance. Required Qualifications * 4+ years of professional software development experience. * 4+ years of experience developing applications using Java. * Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis and design principles. * Experience designing, developing, and supporting backend services and RESTful APIs. * Experience building and supporting distributed or client/server applications. * Experience working with Spring Framework and related technologies. * Experience developing and supporting applications in Linux and/or Windows environments. * Experience with source control, automated testing, build, and deployment tools. * Experience with relational databases and data access technologies. * Experience with messaging technologies and event-driven architectures. * Experience analyzing and improving application performance, scalability, and reliability. * Demonstrated ability to independently own features from design through production support. * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex technical issues. * Experience participating in code reviews and technical design discussions. * Experience working within Agile development teams. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with real-time streaming or market data systems. * Experience developing financial services, trading, or other data-intensive applications. * Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. | |
