Temporary Clinical Trial Assistant

This position will aid the School of Kinesiology by providing support for a clinical trial investigating a high-resistance breathing exercise for improving cardiovascular health. The employee will be expected to recruit and schedule study participants, obtain informed consent, and assist with data collection, analysis, and management.

This hybrid position is a temporary position. Starting FTE is 60% from start date until July 1st, 2027. The position will go down to 40% FTE from July 1, 2027 - June 30, 2028.

Pay Range: The salary for this position is $40,170 at 60% time and $26,780 at 40%.

Job Responsibilities:

Subject recruitment - 33%

• Help with timely and effective recruitment of human subjects for laboratory research projects (performing online and telephone screening, assess whether subjects meet inclusion/exclusion criteria, etc.)

• Ensure minority group representation in study in accordance with grant guidelines

Obtaining subject informed consent - 8%

• Thoroughly explain all experimental procedures to potential human subjects in lay terms
• Have sufficient understanding of the laboratory research project to be able to answer subject questions
• Obtain oral and written informed consent in accordance with regulatory requirements

• Assist with revision of informed consent documents and other regulatory documents as needed

Scheduling experimental testing sessions - 25%

• Schedule subjects for testing sessions
• Coordinate testing schedule with investigators

• Make reminder calls and send reminder emails to subjects

Screening and testing research subjects - 17%

• Prepare subject folders; prepare equipment and supplies for scheduled procedures

• Assist investigator with laboratory procedures (e.g., blood pressure measurements, ultrasound imaging, etc.)

Data management and subject results - 17%

• Assist with management of database (timely data entry into REDCap/spreadsheets, ensure data are properly recorded in files and in computer databases, compile data for interim and final study analyses)
• Management of collected biological samples (ensuring samples were collected and stored appropriately, inventorying, compiling samples for later analyses as needed)
• File organization; develop packets of subject results and send to subjects in a timely manner
• Complete paperwork for subject payment and follow-up to ensure payment was received

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise science, or related field.
• Clinical research experience.
