At RWJBarnabas Health, our Food and Nutrition team plays an important part in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and team members. As a Diet Aide, you'll help keep our kitchen running smoothly by ensuring cookware, equipment, and work areas are clean, sanitized, and ready for use. In this role, you'll be:

• Washing and sanitizing pots, pans, baking sheets, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment by hand or using industrial equipment.
• Scraping and soaking cookware to ensure items are thoroughly cleaned and ready for use.
• Supplying clean cookware to the culinary team during busy meal service periods.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and clutter-free pot washing station and kitchen work area.
• Emptying trash, breaking down cardboard, and keeping waste disposal areas clean.
• Sweeping and mopping floors to help maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Following health code requirements, sanitation standards, and proper procedures for handling and diluting cleaning chemicals.
• Working collaboratively with the Food and Nutrition team to support efficient kitchen operations.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team. Candidates should have knowledge of basic health and safety practices and demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend as needed, perform repetitive hand motions, and safely lift items in accordance with the physical requirements of the position. Candidates must also be comfortable working in a kitchen and cafeteria environment that may include wet or slippery surfaces, heat, cleaning chemicals, grease, and commercial kitchen equipment.
