The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily activities of the logistics staff, including labor scheduling, supervision, and proper utilization of space, equipment, and manpower. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: staffing; employee training, coaching and evaluation; implementation of safety, security, housekeeping and sanitation programs; customer service; scheduling shipment and receipt times. Plans & schedules receiving, storage, shipping, handling of returned goods to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner Directs and oversees job assignments and plan daily labor schedules for the shipping/receiving clerks Primary point of contact for yard dog contractor, shuttle drivers, outside storage and all trailer issues Directs the operations of the shipping and receiving personnel to achieve prescribed objectives. Develop and maintain a productive work team by utilizing personnel to the work required. Monitors the cleanliness and working condition of all trailers and reports the need for adjustment or repairs as necessary, and reports utilization to General Manager Coordinates trailer maintenance with the General Manager. Participate in the development of, and implementation of the Food Safety and Work Safety at the plant Follow the directives of the Food Safety program to maintain a food safe and secure facility Schedules cleaning of equipment with sanitation, store product in a neat and efficient manner Evaluates, recommends and verifies receipt and usage of warehouse supplies including but not limited to pallets, pallet wrapping and cleaning supplies Maintains an adequate but not excessive inventory of supplies by evaluating usage and re-ordering at appropriate intervals Ensures current and accurate inventory control for each account, and institutes immediate corrective action in the event of an inventory damage or discrepancy Assures that customer orders are picked and shipped in a timely fashion Develops and implements an effective receiving and shipping operation that minimizes cost and ensures receiving paperwork is processed accurately and promptly. Coordinates all transportation services in and out of the warehouse for customer service, safety and security Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required 3+ years of experience in logistics or shipping/receiving 1+ years of experience in supervisory position
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior shipping/receiving experience preferred.
- Prior production experience a plus.
- Basic math skills; ability to compute decimals and percentages.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good oral and written skills.
- Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.
- Requires prolonged sitting and movement throughout office/work locations, as well as occasional use of computers and office equipment.
- Must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.
- Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs.
