Precision Assembly Technician

The Opportunity

Newton Scientific (NSI) is seeking a detail-oriented technician to support the manufacture of precision electro-mechanical products. You will work in a well-organized environment alongside experienced technicians. Training will be provided on our products and processes to a candidate who brings the right foundation, patience, and willingness to learn. Success in this role requires dependable attendance, openness to feedback, and the judgment to raise questions before they become quality issues.

What You Will Do

• Perform precision hand soldering, including through-hole and surface-mount work as needed.
• Position, align, and assemble miniature parts using a microscope, tweezers, fixtures, and other precision hand tools.
• Spot weld very fine wires and small components under magnification.
• Build electro-mechanical products, subassemblies, and wiring according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Inspect work for alignment, solder or weld quality, cleanliness, completeness, and workmanship.
• Handle delicate components carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
• Accurately document completed work and promptly report defects, questions, or unusual conditions.
• Work under the direction of a senior technician and respond positively to training and feedback.
• Support other production activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination
• Excellent hand soldering skills
• Ability to perform soldering and spot welding under a microscope
• Strong attention to detail, patience, and concentration
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic

Preferred Experience

• Through-hole and/or SMT hand soldering.
• Micro spot welding of fine wires, or comparable precision welding, bonding, or assembly work.

Physical Requirements

• Remain seated and work under magnification for extended periods.
• Maintain steady hand control and frequent use of hands for fine assembly and soldering.
• Wear gloves and follow assembly procedures when handling delicate components.

Hourly Rate: $25 - $29 per hour. Compensation will be based on the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity. The final offer may fall anywhere within the posted range.
