Manager, Patient Care - RN - Trauma Med Surg / Stepdown - La Jolla

We invite you to join our highly engaged team in the 57 bed Trauma Medical Surgical and Stepdown (Trauma, Medical, Surgical, Stroke) Unit as a Manager of Patient Care.

This role has approximately 12 direct reports. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, engaged, inspiring and resilient leader with 5 years of clinical experience and 2 years of leadership experience. This leader must have excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning, and follow-through. Must be able to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.

The Manager of Patient Care creates and maintains an environment that assures nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety. They are responsible for the daily operations of the Stepdown / Trauma Med Surg Unit including:

• Creating and managing staffing plans and ensuring appropriate equipment and resources are available to staff to do their job.
• Ensures appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.
• Ensures the safe transition of patients thru the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.
• Accountable for meeting operational budgets for the assigned department.
• Collaboration with Trauma Leadership and Providers

This is a Full Time, Salaried, position located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Required Qualifications:

• Five(5) years applicable clinical experience, two (2) of which in a leadership role
• Graduate of an accredited program
• Current California RN license
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN or MSN
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS certification
• Certification in area of specialty (Med Surg Cert, TCRN, PCRN, ect)
