JOB SUMMARY
The Willed Body Program Driver plays a vital role in supporting anatomical donation services by ensuring the safe, respectful, and timely transportation of deceased donors. This position requires professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and the physical ability to manage sensitive removals and transport. The role may also involve supporting other aspects of the Willed Body Program, including donor intake coordination and administrative tasks. This position represents the program to donor families and healthcare professionals and must maintain the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

• Education
  Minimum completion of 8th grade
  High School Diploma Preferred
  
• Experience
  Experience working in funeral services, healthcare, medical transport, or a similar field.
  Familiarity with anatomy, medical terminology, or donation logistics.
  Strong sense of compassion, professionalism, and ethical responsibility.
  Ability to work independently and communicate effectively, especially in sensitive or emotional situations.
  Basic mechanical skills to perform routine vehicle checks.
  
  
• Licenses and Certifications
  Must have valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record
  
  
• Availability
  Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  
  

JOB DUTIES

• Safely and respectfully transport whole-body donors from hospitals, hospices, residences, and other facilities to the designated location.
• Lift and maneuver deceased individuals weighing up to 150 pounds using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Maintain complete and accurate vehicle operating records; report maintenance needs and mechanical issues in a timely manner.
• Perform basic vehicle upkeep, including refueling, checking tire pressure, oil, water, and battery levels.
• May be cross-trained to:
  • Respond to incoming death calls and assess donor eligibility.
  • Coordinate logistics of whole-body donations.
  • Communicate with and send consent documentation to next of kin.
  • Assist Willed Body Program staff with various operational and clerical duties.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and procedural standards for donor handling and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold donor and family privacy at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Conditions
This position involves travel, primarily within the State of Texas and may involve night or weekend shifts.
Work is performed both in the field (transporting donors) and in administrative settings.
Exposure to deceased individuals and biohazard precautions are required.
