| Job Summary |
The Hariyani Group at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to explore structure-property relationships in functional solid-state inorganic materials. Our research program is at the intersection between inorganic chemistry and materials science, integrating synthesis, X-ray scattering and spectroscopy, and first-principles calculations to advance our understanding of dynamically transformable materials that yield a novel function in response to external stimuli such as ion insertion, voltage, and optical excitation. We aim to develop a new understanding on the surface interactions and mechanisms of chirality transfer between chiral ligands and inorganic phosphors to produce IR circularly polarized luminescence.

| Minimum Education and Experience |
Ph.D in a related field.
Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral. Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.
|
| Preferred Education and Experience |
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven track record of publishing scientific papers and delivering presentations
- A track record of skills in solid-state materials synthesis and characterization (PXRD and Rietveld refinement, SEM, XPS, etc)
- Experience with machine learning techniques, particularly machine-learned interatomic potentials, in the context of chemical research.
- Programming experience (e.g., Python), with a strong background in developing and applying computational tools in research.
|
| Other Qualifications |
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Plan and execute experiments related to the solid-state synthesis and functionalization of inorganic luminescent materials.
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to design experiments and validate predictions.
- Prepare reports and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students. |
