The primary purpose of the UNCG Center for Translational Biomedical Research is to conduct basic and translational research in human diseases, with focuses on biomarkers for early diagnosis of disease, understanding of disease pathogenesis and development of novel interventions for disease prevention and treatment.

This Post Doctoral Fellow position is expected to focus on development of organic synthesis methodologies for lipid synthesis and synthesis of stable isotope labeled lipid standards, including polyunsaturated fatty acids, phospholipids and glycosphingolipids. The position will perform bench research work, including literature survey, experimental design, compound synthesis, compound characterization, and assist in manuscript and report preparation.

The minimum qualifications for this position include a PhD degree in the field of chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or organic synthesis related disciplines; fully trained and very experienced in multiple step organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of organic compounds.

The candidate for this position should be self-motivated, possess sufficient communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and with others in a collaborative research environment.
