Manager, Energy Policy and Planning

Primary Purpose
Directs multiple planning and policy teams, aligns operational strategies with corporate objectives, and oversees regulatory interactions to ensure integrated resource planning and compliance excellence. Maintains and oversees front office commercial compliance programs with ARB, WREGIS, FERC/NERC and liaises with the legal department to ensure SGPM remains compliant with various state and federal regulatory bodies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Development team on Interconnection Analysis.
• Works with Asset Management to ensure compliance plans for all operating projects.
• Partners with Origination on customer outreach regarding policies that will affect projects in development pipeline.
• Manages the lifecycle of various regulatory filings, ensuring technical accuracy, timely submission, and strategic positioning in alignment with national, regional, and local compliance mandates.
• Develops risk mitigation strategies aligned with compliance obligations, technical performance, and operational reliability.
• Oversees analysis of market & tariff changes, FERC filings, and advocacy/stakeholder comments to help guide development strategies
• Manages relationships with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, and advocacy groups.
• Ensures adherence to best-practices protocols to support accurate reporting, audit trails, and decision-making in compliance processes.
• Develops corrective action frameworks to address gaps in technical compliance.
• Identifies and resolves complex technical and organizational issues impacting compliance.
• Oversee CARB emissions compliance program and other processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Provides input to senior leadership on policy trends, market risks, and strategic opportunities.
• Regulatory Frameworks - Understands federal, state, and local energy regulations, market rules, and compliance requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
