Do you enjoy being outdoors, improving properties, and managing construction projects from start to finish? PLM Paving & Concrete is looking for an experienced construction Project Manager who can take ownership of a project from the initial opportunity through final billing. You will partner with sales, evaluate customer needs, develop scopes and estimates, coordinate people and resources, and deliver successful, profitable projects. We are willing to teach the technical details of paving, earthwork, and concrete. We cannot teach the foundation this position requires: construction judgment, organization, accountability, customer communication, and the ability to lead multiple projects. This is not an entry-level construction position. Our ideal candidate is already a successful Project Manager. We will also consider a strong Estimator/Project Manager who has managed construction work and is ready to take greater ownership. Project Management Manage multiple construction projects from award through completion, billing, and closeout. Turn proposals and contracts into clear execution plans, schedules, and resource requirements. Coordinate customers, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and site access. Maintain consistent customer communication and resolve field issues quickly and professionally. Monitor costs, production, schedules, and profitability while addressing risks before they become larger problems. Identify scope changes, prepare pricing, and obtain approval before additional work begins. Visit projects to review safety, quality, progress, and compliance with the contracted scope. Compare estimated and actual performance to improve future planning and pricing. Estimating and Customer Development Review plans and customer requests, conduct site evaluations, and identify scope, quantity, access, drainage, and constructability requirements. Develop accurate estimates and professional proposals with clear assumptions, inclusions, exclusions, and alternates. Obtain supplier and subcontractor pricing, follow up on proposals, and maintain an organized opportunity pipeline. Build customer relationships and identify additional project and long-term maintenance opportunities. The Foundation You Must Bring Demonstrated success managing construction projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, communication, and closeout. Practical understanding of how construction work is planned, coordinated, and completed in the field. Ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, customers, and competing deadlines. Strong financial judgment, including experience tracking costs, protecting margin, and managing change orders. Ability to read plans, specifications, contracts, and construction details. Clear written and verbal communication. Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail. Confidence making decisions and addressing problems before they become larger issues. Comfort using project-management, estimating, spreadsheet, email, CRM, and document-management systems. Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout PLM's service area. Experience That Will Help You Succeed Three or more years of construction project-management experience is preferred. Estimating experience is preferred but not required. Experience in civil construction, site development, utilities, excavation, commercial landscaping, roofing, pavement maintenance, or another production-based construction trade is valuable. Direct paving, earthwork, or concrete experience is beneficial but not required. An associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, business, or a related field is a plus; proven construction performance matters more than a degree.
