The Operations Manager-Shipping ensure that orders are picked, scanned and shipped in both a timely and accurate manner. Also, make recommendations for improvement in the before-mentioned areas.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, trains and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.
• Review and approve payroll on a weekly basis.
• Respond to customer service inquiries.
• Manage the open order report, ensuring that this report is kept current.
• Prioritize pick tickets according to requested ship dates, cancel dates and required customer satisfaction levels.
• Ensure that picking and shipping areas are kept in a neat and organized fashion.
• Participate in the development of procedures that will improve and maintain picking and shipping accuracy.
• Develop best practices for picking, scanning and shipping.
• Assist in maintaining an accurate picking zone by monitoring product usage and recommending changes to the picking area.
• Order supplies as needed in areas of responsibility.
• Manage the back order report and ensure that all back orders are shipped as product becomes available.
• Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned by Warehouse Manager.
• Direct the daily activities of each report in order to maximize efficiency.
• Perform performance evaluations for all direct reports on an annual basis.
• Communicate expectations to all direct reports, and monitor those expectations versus actual performance. Employees should be provided feedback on at least a weekly basis.
• Determine staffing requirements by analyzing the average number of cartons received per day and the number of cartons that can be processed /day per person. Communicate those needs to the Distribution Center Manager.
• Motivate employees to perform job functions, as well as meet departmental and organizational goals.
• Work with Distribution Center Manager to develop job descriptions for all direct reports.
• Take pride in your surroundings by helping maintain a clean workspace.
• Other duties as determined by the needs of the business.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to use various software programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Macola and Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented atmosphere.
