Your Impact

The Vertex SOX PMO Co-Op is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards a bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting. If you are passionate, collaborative, and growth-minded, a co-op at Vertex will help you gain meaningful experience in our Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting functional area and serve as a launchpad for your career.

What you will be doing:
The SOX PMO team is responsible for working closely with control owners across various functional areas (including Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources) to assess and evaluate risk management activities and business processes related to financial reporting, operations, and compliance, with the objective of promoting efficiency and effectiveness and fostering an appropriate control environment. The team oversees Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and acts as an advisor to the Accounting, Finance and HR functions around the design of controls and processes. The SOX PMO team facilitates walkthrough meetings, coordinates with internal and external auditors, provides management reporting and supports the quarterly control certifications. The SOX PMO focuses on standardizing and globalizing our SOX processes to ensure we have scalable processes and strategic risk coverage supporting Vertex's long-term needs.

This role will support the team by assisting in evaluating and documenting key control/process changes/control findings, supporting the team with process walkthroughs and monitoring the status of various SOX deliverables to internal and external auditors. This role will have the opportunity to collaborate with process owners across multiple teams in the organization (Accounting, Internal Audit, Finance and Human Resources) and will provide an excellent opportunity to gain and understanding of Vertex's financial reporting processes. This role will assist with various ad hoc projects as well (e.g., system implementations, globalization and harmonization efforts).

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the team on process walkthroughs (in areas of Revenue, Inventory, Treasury, SEC Report, GL Accounting and IT Processes)
• Optimize Company's SOX reporting tool-Monitor status of deliverables to internal and external auditors
• Prepare metrics for quarterly management status meetings
• Documenting key control changes for presentations to senior management
• Facilitate collection and review of quarterly control certifications
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams in the organization on projects as needed

What you will need to succeed:

• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in accounting or business
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Software (Excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize accordingly
• Ability to work independently & in a team environment
• Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships/co-ops or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
• You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating beforeJune 2027
• You must be available to work full-time,40 hoursper week fromJanuary - June 2027

Program Details:

• Full-time, paid co-op $20.00-35.00 USD/hour

• Program Dates: January - June 2027
