Minimum Qualifications	Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent plus 10 years of professional experience to include 3 years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications	Demonstrated leadership experience (at least 3 years) in operations, facilities management, or infrastructure support within a complex organization, preferably a large and small animal veterinary hospital or hospitals.
Position Summary	The Director of VTH Operations ( DVO) serves as a member of the VTH Senior Administrative Team and provides high level oversight of VTH infrastructure and operational functions that support the missions of exceptional patient and client care, instruction of veterinary professionals, advancement of veterinary medicine, and institutional sustainability in a complex, 24/7 teaching hospital environment. The DVO leads the management of critical operational areas including facilities, equipment, inventory and supply chain operations, safety and regulatory compliance, and veterinary healthcare information technology systems. Working collaboratively with VTH leadership, the College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM), and University partners, the DVO ensures these functions operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with hospital priorities and accreditation requirements. . This role exercises operational authority within assigned areas, emphasizes strong leadership and communication, and requires the ability to manage change, prioritize competing demands, and guide teams and contractors through ongoing projects and system improvements.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies	Demonstrated leadership experience (at least 3 years) in operations, facilities management, or infrastructure support within a complex organization, preferably a large and small animal veterinary hospital or hospitals. Knowledge of managing facilities projects or renovations in active, occupied environments. Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills. Working knowledge of safety, regulatory compliance, or risk management practices. Experience (at least 3 years) in a veterinary teaching hospital, academic medical centers, or hospital. Experience (at least 3 years) overseeing equipment programs, inventory systems, or healthcare information systems. Professional certification in facilities management, safety, compliance, or project management.

Duties/Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategic Planning

Partner with VTH leadership to support clinical, teaching, research, and financial missions.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate operational managers and supervisors.
Lead development and monitoring of operational metrics and key performance indicators.
Contribute to strategic planning and operational forecasting.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

Serve as liaison between VTH leadership and CVM and University Facilities partners.
Manage utilization, maintenance, renovation, and construction of VTH spaces through delegation of support team.
Oversee management of facilities projects in active clinical environments.
Participate in capital improvement planning and infrastructure prioritization.

Duties/Responsibilities	Equipment & Asset Management Oversee equipment manager and assistant in planning, acquisition, replacement, and lifecycle management of clinical and operational equipment. Ensure biomedical equipment safety, regulatory compliance, and asset tracking. Manage oversight of equipment service contracts and collaborate with finance and procurement partners.

Duties/Responsibilities	Warehouse & Supply Chain Operations oversee materials management, inventory control, and distribution processes through the Warehouse and Central Sterile in collaboration with Senior Finance Manager and Purchasing Manager, Complete implementation and optimization of inventory management systems. Balance product availability with cost control, waste reduction, and compliance requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities	Safety & Regulatory Compliance Oversee Safety and Compliance Officer in leading hospital-wide safety programs including occupational safety, hazardous materials, radiation safety, and emergency preparedness. Ensure compliance with University, state, and federal regulations and AVMA COE accreditation standards. Oversee audits, risk mitigation strategies, and corrective actions.

Duties/Responsibilities	Veterinary Healthcare Systems Information Technology Collaborate with VTH, CVM, and University IT leadership to advance veterinary healthcare systems. Support evaluation, implementation, and integration of clinical and operational technologies. Supervise IT capital planning, vendor management, and service agreements.
