About This Role

This position exists to provide highly skilled HVAC services to the campus community to allow for personal comfort in the various buildings at KSU at the advanced/master level. Must participate in mandatory on-call program, in which 24 hour emergency availability is required.


About Us

The Division of Facilities' maintenance personnel conduct routine maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the operational reliability of our campus' building systems. This maintenance involves regular, scheduled service to maintain equipment functionality without the need for immediate repairs. Many of the older buildings have systems and equipment that have exceeded their expected lifespan, highlighting the value of a strong preventive maintenance program.


Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Two years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Drivers License


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two years of experience in refrigeration-air/conditioning repair work.
  • Four years of experience in refrigeration and air conditioning work including two at the journey level.
  • Journey level experience in electronic control service and repair.
  • Journey level experience in heating systems including electric, gas fired, heat pump, steam, and hot water.


Additional Role Information:



  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Valid EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certificate with a universal rating.
  • Medical certification for respirator use within probationary period. Maintain medical certification for respirator annually.
  • Daily: All types of HVAC equipment, state vehicles, EMS computer software, Electrical meters, AIMS computer software, electrical safety equipment, oxygen-acetylene torches, vacuum pumps, refrigerant recovery equipment, and refrigeration gauges.
  • Subject to on-call, standby and inclement weather response. This position is essential.
