Howmet Dover Casting is a world-class supplier of complex, investment-cast turbine airfoils and other components for the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries. Howmet Dover Alloy is a world-class supplier of vacuum and air-melted nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys to aerospace, gas turbine, medical and other high-technology industrial markets.

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking a Group Leader over the receiving department to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey.

Permanent Shift: 1st Shift Monday through Friday 6:30am-2:30pm

Anticipated Pay Range: $29 - $35 per hour. *Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Receiving Team Lead to direct incoming logistics, material handling, and material verification at our manufacturing facility. In this critical role, you will oversee daily receiving dock operations, lead and motivate the warehouse team, ensure all activities are properly scheduled, and keep production flowing. You will use internal systems and Microsoft Excel to maintain inventory accuracy, flag low stock for reordering, run basic reports, and drive continuous improvement using lean principles.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals.

  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Report all job related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).

  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.

  • Attend all EHS training.

JOB ROLES

  • Technology - Handles computer correspondence, internal system tracking, operational reporting, and data management in Microsoft Excel.

  • Collaboration - Works effectively as part of a team and communicates clearly across all levels of the organization.

  • Quality - Upholds department quality standards, routes components to Receiving Inspection, and manages Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

  • Compliance - Follows EHS, quality, and safety guidelines, site procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Logistics - Manages shipping, receiving, storage, and material distribution.

  • Inventory - Completes cycle counts, monitors stock thresholds, supports reordering to prevent stockouts, and resolves discrepancies.

  • Documentation - Ensures packing lists and shipping documents are accurate and compliant.

  • Material Flow - Manages the movement of inventory throughout operations to a consistently high standard.

  • Continuous Improvement - Actively participates in improvement initiatives, applying lean principles to eliminate waste and streamline workflows.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely manage the shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials and products.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor receiving personnel, and establish training processes for new employees.

  • Oversee the unloading, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments for freight damage, correct quantities, and proper documentation (packing slips, Certificates of Analysis, and Certificates of Conformance).

  • Maintain rigorous inventory control by logging, updating, and tracking records and workflows in internal company systems and Excel.

  • Monitor inventory levels during receiving, identify items approaching minimum stock levels, and submit timely reorder alerts to Purchasing and Planning.

  • Complete inventory cycle counts on schedule and investigates discrepancies.

  • Partner closely with Quality Assurance (QA) to coordinate material routing.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams at all levels and with external partners.

  • Maintain accurate files, records, and basic operational reports.

  • Work flexible hours, including overtime, as needed to meet shipment deadlines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position, Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing or high-precision industrial environment.
  • Strong command of standard office technology and internal software databases, with proficient Microsoft Excel skills (maintaining tracking sheets, sorting and filtering data, and running basic reports).
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and to stand or walk for extended periods during a shift.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supervising or leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with quality management standards (such as AS9100) and lean manufacturing principles.
