Summary

The Director of Software Engineeringwill lead the design, development, and delivery of the core platform frameworks that underpin the OneStream product suite. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, ensuring high-quality, reusable, and extensible framework components, and aligning platform investments with the needs of downstream product and engineering teams. You will work cross-functionally with product management, architecture, DevOps, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver scalable, performant, and secure foundational platform capabilities that other teams build on across the OneStream ecosystem.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities




  • Set and execute the engineering vision aligned with product and company strategy, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Architecture leadership.


  • Build, lead, and scale high-performing software engineering teams through strong people leadership and talent development.


  • Drive execution of product roadmaps, ensuring on-time delivery, code quality, and alignment with security and compliance standards.


  • Understand evolving customer needs and translate them into robust features and capabilities that integrate seamlessly with the OneStream ecosystem


  • Work cross-functionally with product management, architecture, QA, and other engineering teams


  • Partner closely with cloud engineering to support and advance platform engineering efforts, to deliver scalable, performant, and secure foundational platform capabilities


  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence through clear metrics, performance feedback, and continuous improvement.


  • Champion modern engineering practices (e.g., CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps) and ensure adherence across teams.


  • Oversee and evolve our SDLC, technical architecture, and team structure to support scale, speed, and agility.


  • Provide coaching and career development for Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers.


  • Participate in and help guide architectural discussions and key technology decisions.


  • Identify and manage technical debt and opportunities for platform improvement.


  • Represent Engineering in cross-functional leadership forums, influencing broader company priorities and roadmap decisions.



Required Education and Experience




  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.


  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, minimum of 6 years in engineering leadership


  • Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams in a SaaS or financial software environment.


  • Strong technical background and familiarity with modern backend and frontend development technologies.


  • Deep understanding of Agile development methodologies and experience evolving engineering processes.


  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment across departments.



Preferred Education and Experience




  • Experience in a regulated or financial services software environment.


  • Familiarity with REST APIs, integration patterns, and OneStream extensibility architecture (VB.NET/Business Rules, dashboards, cube views).


  • Demonstrated success in scaling and optimizing distributed engineering teams.


  • Exposure to cloud-native development, data privacy, and secure software development practices



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities




  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and architectural best practices.


  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).


  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and compliance considerations in financial software.


  • Proven leadership and team-building skills across cross-functional and distributed teams.


  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences.


  • Skilled in project planning, execution, and driving accountability across engineering teams.


  • Ability to align engineering strategy with product and business goals.


  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


  • Ability to mentor, develop, and retain top engineering talent.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manages the Engineering Managers in addition to directly managing senior level engineers.



Travel



  • Travel is limited in this role and less than 10%.

Total compensation is based on experience, skills, and location using objective, job-related criteria. Additional variable compensation and benefits may apply.

Gross annual base salary
$199,000 — $235,000 USD
