Title: Industrial Engineer - Electrical Equipment Company: Global Power Components - www.globalpowercomponents.com Location: Milwaukee, WI (onsite 5-days/week) Hire Type: Direct Hire Overview: Global Power Components (GPC) is a privately held, rapidly growing manufacturer of large, complex fabricated metal products and integrated equipment for the power generation and electrical industries. Building on GPC's manufacturing scale, engineering capability, and reputation for execution, the Electrical Equipment Solutions business is expanding the company's capabilities into UL 891 switchboards, generator docking stations, camboards, and other engineered electrical assemblies. The business is being built for growth, with a focus on customer responsiveness, scalable manufacturing systems, disciplined execution, and continued investment in people, technology, and automation. Position Summary: The Industrial Engineer will help design, launch, stabilize, and continuously improve the manufacturing systems used to build UL 891 switchboards, generator docking stations, camboards, and other engineered electrical assemblies. This is a hands-on role focused on production layout, material flow, work instructions, labor standards, routings, ERP data, and day-to-day manufacturing support. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on the production floor, solving problems with cross-functional teams, and building practical processes that can scale as the Electrical Equipment Solutions business grows. Responsibilities:
- Define process and layout to assemble UL 891 switchboards and other large electrical assemblies safely and efficiently.
- Create line design(s) that accommodate low-volume, high-mix Engineered to Order (ETO) production, as well as lower mix Configure to Order (CTO) production.
- Perform time studies, line balancing, material flow planning, ergonomic and other analyses to ensure repeatable, scalable, and safe production.
- Collaborate closely with materials and production teams to develop and implement material handling methods and replenishment processes.
- Create work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure manufacturing process is well documented.
- Use visual factory tools to define standard locations and advance 5S efforts.
- Support stabilization and ramp-up of both CTO and ETO production lines.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials, labor standards, routings, and work instructions in Epicor ERP, and serve as the manufacturing subject-matter expert for these processes and data.
- Provide hands-on support for day-to-day production issues while identifying and leading mid- and long-term continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Apply Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement tools to solve production problems and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Development, auditing, and continuous improvement of department quality and production goals while serving as a technical point of contact for supervisors and production operators.
- Support fixture design, assess capital-equipment needs, scope manufacturing projects, and lead cross-functional improvement efforts as the operation grows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Hands-on approach and a "go see" mentality.
- Ability to learn manufacturing processes in depth and develop subject-matter expertise.
- Comfort working on the production floor in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of urgency.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineering, safety, quality, purchasing, production, and other cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or engineer-to-order production environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, root-cause analysis, or continuous-improvement tools.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, material flow, work instructions, labor standards, routings, or production systems.
