   Position Description
  
 
   
   DEFINITION: To teach CDL Truck Driver training to Electrical Lineworker students at the CFCC North Campus. To develop and update curriculum and prepare educational material for courses, provide classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions and testing. Courses to be delivered via on ground. Instructors will provide instruction in motor vehicle laws and regulations, map reading, vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, daily logs, defensive driving, freight handling, security, and fire protection. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: 
    Receives direct supervision from the Electrical Lineworker Program Chair and general supervision from the Director of Workforce Readiness Programs.Exercises no supervision.
 
   Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  
 
   
   ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions: 
    Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to studentsPrepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activitiesDevelop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessonsDevelop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade record individual scoresProvide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriateMaintain accurate records of student attendance and performanceMaintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, also enter grading and attendance information in Web Advisor within deadlines.Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate.Maintain a lab area that is safe and clean.Follow all OSHA rules regarding a safe workplace.Demonstrate competencies regarding the handling of hazardous waste materials.Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines     Other Important Functions: 
    Assess the relevance and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as neededOversee and participate in field studies and assignments; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriatePerform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.Principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and proceduresCurrent trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Ability To:

      Making sound decisionsResponding to questionsDemonstrating intellectual capabilities EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum Education/Training: 
    A High School diploma or equivalent is required.A certificate from an accredited driving program or specialized training at the level required to meet professional preparation of the assigned area of instruction.For Truck Driver Training faculty; Class A CDL.Valid NC driver's license with driving record that is within the parameters set by the college  Minimum Experience: 
    Five years of over the road (OTR) experience required.  Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills: 
    One or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher are preferred.
