Company: Munich Reinsurance America, Inc. Position: Property Treaty Underwriter Location: New York, New York, United States Job Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $196,500 to $196,500 per year Duties: Evaluate the risk associated with property reinsurance applications and determine the acceptance of such applications. Efficiently follow the underwriting process and adhere to internal policies/processes, underwriting and pricing integrity, and underwriting best practices. Develop and maintain a clear understanding of underwriting and pricing guidelines. Utilize underwriting, pricing, and portfolio analytics tools to quantitatively assess property reinsurance submissions and support pricing and capacity decisions. Provide insight into the quantitative and qualitative analyses of property reinsurance portfolio results for the business unit, including monitoring account experience and identifying emerging issues. Work with Division management to develop Line of Business (LoB) strategies and peril driven strategies. Maintain underwriting and business development responsibility for key accounts as assigned by the Head of Underwriting and Team Lead as appropriate. Effectively, persuasively, and punctually negotiate appetite and terms with brokers and clients. Attend Underwriting audits, client/broker visits, and conferences in support of the portfolio production. Participate in broker marketing and industry meetings and provide responsive service on broker and client requests. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Math, or other quantitative field plus 5 years of experience as a Property Treaty Underwriter or related Property & Casualty (re)insurance underwriting, actuarial, or broking role. Prior work experience must include: Performing statistical and data analysis of insurance information to support property reinsurance underwriting and pricing, including the use and interpretation of experiencebased and exposurebased rating model outputs; Reviewing and evaluating reinsurance contract terms and conditions as part of the underwriting assessment of client submissions; Assessing property risk using qualitative judgment and quantitative underwriting methodologies; Communicating with brokers and clients regarding underwriting appetite, pricing, and contractual terms, including negotiation of price and terms; and, monitoring and/or management of Property & Casualty (re)insurance portfolios to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and portfolio objectives. May telecommute but must have ability to report to New York, NY office 3 times per week. Benefits: Opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
