The Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education (
ECEE) is in the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University.
ECEE is a vibrant, multi-focused, and interdisciplinary department with 33 world-class faculty of multiple scholarly disciplines.
ECEE prepares early childhood and elementary education teachers, scholars, and community and school leaders with seven degree programs, four endorsements, and several research and training programs. We provide learning opportunities for educators in and out of the classroom, ensuring that cutting-edge research, the latest technologies, and innovative teaching inform our programs. | Position Description |
The Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Georgia State University seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of elementary education (grades PreK-5) with expertise in mathematics education. Georgia State University is an innovative urban public Research 1 with considerable emphasis on recruiting productive scholars. |
| Required Experience |
* Expertise in standards-based P-5 mathematics pedagogy and content
* Scholarly focus on early childhood and elementary mathematics education
* Scholarly focus on
STEAM/
STEM education and curricular integration
* Three years of professional experience with K12 students
* Strong evidence of developing a research agenda and potential for attracting externally funded research and scholarly activities
* Experience teaching mathematics education courses in a university setting is beneficial
* Demonstrated research through publications and presentations are preferred. |
| Required Education |
Candidates must hold or anticipate a PhD in P-5 mathematics education, elementary education, or a related field by December 1, 2027.

| Preferred Qualifications/Experience |
All applicants should show evidence of or potential for a strong independent research program, external funding, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, as well as potential for excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching. All applicants should have at least three years of P12 teaching experience. |
