Job Description

Kearney & Company is seeking a Senior Federal Accounting Analyst to join our hybrid team supporting one of the Federal government's largest agencies. Ideally, the Senior Analyst will be in the greater DC metro area and able to travel to client facility in White Oak, Maryland twice a week. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Executing day-to-day Federal accounting-related research, analysis, and communication at the direction of the Kearney & Company Team Lead and/or client,
  • Performing research in the areas of financial reporting, the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL), and accounting treatment/posting logic,
  • Communicating an understanding of accounting concepts and applying them to client situations,
  • Updating Microsoft Excel templates with formulas and Macros to facilitate process automation,
  • Communicating status of project-related tasks to Team Lead and client,
  • Demonstrating strong customer service skills and the ability to work with clients in occasional high-pressure situations with short deadlines,
  • Demonstrating effective writing and communication skills for drafting communication artifacts (e.g., PowerPoints, emails, whitepapers) to explain complicated accounting scenarios and their impacts, and recommended remediation strategies,
  • Working with business process owners to update policies and Standard Operating Procedures,
  • Serving as a liaison between business process owners, developers, and the client to help document, communicate, and translate manual business process needs and outcomes into automated solutions, and
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and provide documented feedback to stakeholders

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 2.5 years of experience
  • Significant experience using Microsoft Excel formulas (e.g., V and XLookups, If statements)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust (Tier 4) clearance (requires US Citizenship)
  • Ability to travel to the client site twice a week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Experience with Federal financial reporting, including:
    • Experience researching, analyzing, and/or utilizing the USSGL
    • Experience researching and applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury requirements including OMB Circular A-11, OMB Circular A-136, and/or the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM)
    • Experience with Federal accounting treatment / posting logic
    • Experience with Budgetary accounting
    • Experience performing tie-point analysis
    • Experience with Financial Statement Analysis
  • Experience with SharePoint and with Microsoft Excel Macros
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI

The expected salary range for this position is between $69,000 and $105,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
