Overview

Responsible for transporting employees within the job site boundaries.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Transport employees safely to and from designated locations following assigned routes
  • Load and unload equipment and materials
  • Secure loads, is aware of load limits (weights)
  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Haul counterweights for cranes Haul water, sand and gravel
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Communicate equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite
  • Daily inspection of truck
  • Obtain required permits
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed
  • Advise Superintendent if trucks need major repairs and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Work Experience and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • One year certificate from college or technical school and/or one to two years related experience preferred
  • One to three years' experience transporting passengers
  • Previous experience with transporting construction equipment and materials
  • Valid Class B Commercial Drivers License
  • No air brake restriction or any other disqualifying CDL restrictions
  • MUST have passenger endorsement

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company's Zero Injury principles
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Ability to safely operate assigned vehicle
  • Ability to inspect vehicle to identify cause of issues as needed
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places and extreme heat
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
