Position Description
The Business Applications & Solutions Lead serves as the primary liaison between business users and the support technical teams for assigned internally developed applications. The role develops deep functional and technical knowledge of assigned applications and manages key aspects of their operational lifecycle, including business requirements, backlog prioritization, testing, release, production support, user readiness, and ongoing improvement.

The position exercises significant independent judgment in evaluating business needs, establishing priorities, coordinating cross-functional activities, and recommending solutions that support organizational objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary application liaison for more than 20 programs and business user groups with diverse operational requirements, coordinating across PMO, the Product Manager, support developers, and other technical stakeholders for assigned internally developed applications.
  • Develops and maintains deep functional and technical knowledge of assigned applications, including business rules, workflows, forms, permissions, integrations, and event-driven functionality.
  • Accountable for successful business-side execution and adoption of assigned application initiatives, including requirements readiness, prioritization, testing, rollout, and user acceptance.
  • Owns production support triage and coordinates directly with support developers on bugs, fixes, and related support requests through resolution, prioritizing based on business impact and urgency.
  • Evaluates and manages requests across business users, establishes backlog priorities based on business value, urgency, user impact, operational need, and dependencies, and resolves competing priorities or escalates conflicts as appropriate.
  • Works with business users to capture, consolidate, and prioritize enhancement and feature requests, then coordinates with the Product Manager, who leads solution development with improvement developers and other technical resources.
  • Develops and maintains application plans, priorities, risks, dependencies, release readiness activities, and status reporting to support successful execution and timely leadership visibility.
  • Communicates prioritized requirements and business context to the Product Manager and partners throughout development to clarify needs and prepare for testing and implementation.
  • Leads application testing and User Acceptance Testing, coordinates business-user participation, and ensures solutions meet documented business requirements before release.
  • Oversees and coordinates user readiness and rollout activities, including communications, training materials, new-user training, feature releases, and ongoing application guidance.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve applications, workflows, business processes, training, and user adoption and recommends improvements to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Presents application priorities, risks, issues, status, and recommendations to leadership and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Provides functional leadership for assigned applications, coordinating activities across business users, support developers, the Product Manager, and other stakeholders to ensure priorities, issues, testing, releases, and user needs are effectively addressed.

  • Applies strong analytical, technical, organizational, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills to application and business challenges.
  • Operates independently, exercises sound judgment, and provides recommendations on application needs, priorities, issues, process improvements, and user impacts.
  • Supports continuous improvement of application management processes, standards, and governance.
  • May provide functional guidance and knowledge transfer to personnel supporting assigned applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, computer science, engineering, project management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience involving business applications, software development, business analysis, product management, project/program management, or related technology initiatives.
  • Must have experience working with software applications and technical teams, translating business requirements into actionable requirements, and coordinating cross-functional initiatives through prioritization, testing, release, and adoption.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, organization, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required, along with sufficient technical aptitude to participate effectively in application, integration, data, and development discussions.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate competing business needs, establish priorities, coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups, and drive activities through completion.

Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Experience with application or product backlog management, Agile or Scrum development practices, User Acceptance Testing, application deployment and adoption, and application integrations or data flows.
  • Prior hands-on experience with software development, application configuration, or technical solution delivery is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in project management, product ownership, Agile/Scrum, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or related disciplines are preferred.


Must successfully pass a background to access sensitive information and automated systems.

Anticipated salary is in range commensurate with education and experience:
$115,000 to $130,000
