Job Summary:

As a Director on the BDOADVANTAGE team, you will own the strategy, roadmap, governance, and delivery of the firm's audit data analytics portfolio. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams of managers, senior managers, and technical professionals who design, build, and deploy analytics, automation, and AI-enabled solutions that help engagement teams focus on the items that matter most, and you will serve as a catalyst for the firm's audit innovation agenda.

Job Duties:



  • Defines and owns the multi-year audit data analytics strategy and roadmap, translating practice priorities and emerging methods into a prioritized, funded portfolio of deliverables
  • Partners with industry and practice leaders to shape analytic concepts, prioritize features, define scope, and iterate with continuous feedback from stakeholders and pilot teams
  • Builds, leads, and develops a multi-level team of analytics, automation, and AI professionals, including onshore and offshore delivery resources
  • Manages resourcing, capacity, and staffing models across concurrent workstreams and adjusts allocations as priorities shift
  • Directs a portfolio of analytics programs and workflows of significant complexity, including cross-functional and cross-border delivery
  • Provides advanced technical direction for analytical and visualization routines in Power BI, including data models, queries, DAX formulas, and report visuals
  • Establishes and enforces engineering quality standards, SDLC and DevOps practices, source control and branching strategy, code review expectations, and release governance
  • Develops and deploys data analytics techniques, tools, and templates that improve audit quality, enhance engagement efficiency, and accelerate adoption of emerging methods
  • Leads evaluation, governance, and responsible deployment of AI-enabled and agentic analytics capabilities, including model lifecycle standards, quality gates, and escalation protocols
  • Ensures data analytics deliverables are intuitive, conform to internal and professional standards, and deliver measurable value to engagement teams and clients
  • Establishes metric and data governance standards that ensure consistency, traceability, and reusability across the analytics portfolio
  • Aligns and influences stakeholders across Professional Practice, National IT, National Innovation, Learning, and BDO Global to drive planning, execution, and adoption
  • Identifies and manages dependencies and risks across projects to ensure efficient resource utilization and higher end user adoption
  • Applies deep knowledge of financial data systems and ERP sources to ensure the common data model supports repeatable, reusable analytics routines
  • Monitors key performance indicators for delivery, quality, and adoption, and reports portfolio status and outcomes to firm leadership
  • Furthers BDO's innovation efforts and personal development by devoting 15-20% of time to projects involving emerging technology, including but not limited to advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, research and development activities, and other forward-looking experiments
  • Monitors engagement team feedback and directs iterative improvements to existing audit data analytics routines
  • Ensures deliverables comply with regulatory, professional, and firm-wide requirements, coordinating with Professional Practice and Risk as needed
  • Oversees development and delivery of training and enablement that is clear, engaging, and hands-on, and drives change management across the practice
  • Supports proposal activity and defends current clients from competitor behavior by incorporating data analytics and innovation into go-to-market approaches
  • Other duties and projects as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Leads managers and senior managers, and manages workflow, resourcing, and performance across project teams
  • Acts as the senior technical escalation point and helps teams resolve the most complex technical and delivery challenges
  • Provides strategy, direction, and decision authority for analytics, automation, and AI projects within delegated scope
  • Acts as a Career Advisor and invests in team members' professional development through coaching, training, and process instruction
  • Provides verbal and written performance reviews and delivers clear, timely, constructive feedback


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or Information Systems, required
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or Information Systems, preferred
  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant accounting, finance, audit, or data analytics experience, required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience delivering data analytics or technology solutions in an audit or assurance environment, required
  • Prior supervisory experience leading multi-level teams, including managers, required
  • Prior portfolio or program management experience across concurrent workstreams, required
  • Demonstrated initiative in learning, adopting, and applying innovative approaches and technology, required
  • Experience establishing delivery, quality, or governance standards across distributed or offshore teams, preferred
  • Experience delivering AI or machine learning enabled solutions, including responsible AI governance, preferred
  • Experience engaging and influencing executive stakeholders, preferred
  • Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams, preferred


Experience:



  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant accounting, finance, audit, or data analytics experience, required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience delivering data analytics or technology solutions in an audit or assurance environment, required
  • Prior supervisory experience leading multi-level teams, including managers, required
  • Prior portfolio or program management experience across concurrent workstreams, required
  • Demonstrated initiative in learning, adopting, and applying innovative approaches and technology, required
  • Experience establishing delivery, quality, or governance standards across distributed or offshore teams, preferred
  • Experience delivering AI or machine learning enabled solutions, including responsible AI governance, preferred
  • Experience engaging and influencing executive stakeholders, preferred
  • Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams, preferred


License/Certifications:



  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, preferred
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or similar credential, preferred
  • Certifications from organizations such as Scrum Alliance or Project Management Institute (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master, Certified Product Owner), preferred


Software:

Technical



  • Advanced experience with data visualization tools, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required
  • Working knowledge of accounting and audit methods, including US GAAP, US GAAS, and PCAOB standards, required
  • Advanced experience with Power BI, including data models, Power Query, M language, and DAX, required
  • Working knowledge of SQL, preferred
  • Experience with Python or comparable scripting language, preferred
  • Experience with source control and DevOps tooling such as Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps, preferred
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $180,000 - $235,000

Maryland Range: $180,000 - $235,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $180,000 - $235,000
