About the Role

KARL STORZ is seeking a physician leader to join our Medical & Scientific Affairs (MSA) team as an Associate Medical Director. In this highly visible role, you will serve as a trusted medical expert, partnering across Commercial, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to provide clinical insight, scientific leadership, and strategic guidance.

With a focus on urologic surgery and technologies, you will help shape educational programs, strengthen relationships with key healthcare stakeholders, support evidence-based decision-making, and ensure the safe and effective use of KARL STORZ technologies. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence product strategy, medical education, customer engagement, and innovation while serving as a bridge between clinical practice and industry.

What You'll Do

Commercial Partnership & Clinical Support

  • Serve as a strategic medical partner to Commercial teams, providing clinical expertise and scientific guidance.
  • Support product launches, market development initiatives, and commercial planning activities.
  • Review clinical messaging, marketing materials, and product positioning strategies.
  • Deliver sales training and field support for customer engagements across hospital, ASC, and office-based settings.
  • Provide clinical insights and competitive intelligence to support business growth.

Medical Education & Scientific Programs

  • Lead the development and execution of physician education and training programs.
  • Support webinar, simulation, preceptorship, and curriculum initiatives.
  • Manage faculty relationships and collaborate on educational content development.
  • Participate in advisory boards, scientific meetings, and educational grant activities.
  • Promote disease-state awareness, procedural excellence, and appropriate technology utilization.

External Scientific Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and professional societies.
  • Facilitate scientific exchange and clinical discussions with external stakeholders.
  • Gather customer insights to inform educational priorities, product development, and business strategy.
  • Participate in conferences, customer visits, and advisory board activities.

Medical Affairs Strategy, Evidence & Safety

  • Provide evidence-based medical leadership across Medical Affairs initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Affairs to evaluate clinical evidence and emerging data.
  • Support medical information activities, post-market surveillance, and safety-related assessments.
  • Contribute to complaint reviews, risk assessments, recall support, and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate with global Medical & Scientific Affairs teams as a subject matter expert.

What You Bring

Required

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Minimum 8+ years of surgical practice experience, including residency training.
  • Administrative or leadership experience, including team, department, or operational management responsibilities.
  • Strong scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholder groups simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively as both an individual contributor and team leader.

Preferred

  • Experience in urologic surgery or a closely related surgical specialty.
  • Experience with medical devices, device development, healthcare technology, or clinical research.
  • Combined clinical and research experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in medical innovation and translating scientific expertise into healthcare solutions.
