What to Expect
We are looking for a New Product Introduction (NPI) Buyer for our Power Electronics procurement. This position will focus on early-stage procurement, build planning and supply chain coordination for our new hardware design programs specifically in the vehicle powertrain and battery electronics space. Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate throughambiguities/difficult obstacles through collection of facts & data, advanced planning, evaluation ofalternatives, open-mindedness, thought-through strategy, and superior communications to lead cross-functionalorganizations through sourcing activities.

What You'll Do
  • Build Readiness & Reporting:Deliver clear-to-build status, material coverage, run-out reports, and other analyses to support engineering build planning
  • Supplier Relationship Management:Build and maintain operational partnerships with assigned suppliers, serving as the primary interface on delivery status, issues, and resolution, and escalating to procurement, accounts payable, quality, or engineering partners as needed
  • Commercial Negotiations & Cost Management:Drive cost negotiations with suppliers to secure best possible pricing; leverage cost models and market analysis; document component costs and partner with Finance to track BOM cost across program phases
  • Market Intelligence & Supply Strategy:Monitor market conditions and technology roadmaps to proactively identify supply challenges and future business opportunities
  • Technical & Operational Expertise:5+ years in sourcing, manufacturing, finance, or supply chain management; advanced Excel proficiency; strong MRP/ERP knowledge with solid understanding of discrete manufacturing, BOMs, product lifecycle management, procure-to-pay processes, and supply chain operations
  • Analytical & Communication Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data for operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to leadership; effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with the diplomacy to positively influence stakeholders inside and outside Tesla
  • Adaptability & Independence:Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility and a self-directed work style

What You'll Bring
  • Experience & Education:At least 2 years in sourcing, manufacturing, finance, or supply chain management, with demonstrated experience managing engineering builds for mass-produced products
  • ERP/MRP & Operations Knowledge:Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with a solid understanding of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure-to-pay processes, and supply chain operations
  • BOM & Product Release Expertise:Demonstrated understanding of multilevel BOM hierarchy (including hardware and software components) and the product release cycle as it relates to part creation and change management of BOM structures
  • Design & Validation Familiarity:Basic understanding of the design and validation cycle
  • Scheduling & Organization:Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules; detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Technical & Analytical Tools:Proficiency in common workplace software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools) with the ability to create and maintain metrics
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Ability to work effectively across engineering, production, and supply chain teams

    Expected Compensation
    $88,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
