As a Senior Superintendent - Soft Craft, you will provide strategic site leadership for all soft craft construction activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations, project objectives, and Worley's commitment to sustainable project delivery.

Working at the center of project execution, you will oversee multiple craft disciplines, coordinate field operations, and lead high-performing construction teams through all phases of project delivery. Your leadership will directly influence workforce productivity, safety performance, schedule achievement, quality outcomes, and overall project success.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Superintendent - Soft Craft plays a critical role in this journey by leading and overseeing the safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of soft craft construction activities on major industrial projects.

Working directly at the project site, the Senior Superintendent - Soft Craft is responsible for directing field operations across soft craft disciplines, which may include insulation, painting, coatings, fireproofing, scaffolding, refractory, and associated specialty construction activities. This role provides overall leadership for workforce management, execution planning, subcontractor coordination, and construction performance while ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer expectations.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading, coordinating, and supervising all soft craft construction activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules and budgets.
  • Driving a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while promoting sustainable work practices.
  • Providing leadership and direction to superintendents, supervisors, forepersons, subcontractors, and craft professionals across multiple soft craft disciplines.
  • Overseeing field administration, procurement coordination, subcontractor management, and construction execution activities to support project delivery objectives.
  • Acting as a primary field leader for soft craft operations, fostering collaboration between construction, engineering, procurement, commissioning, and project management teams.
  • Managing workforce planning, labor productivity, staffing forecasts, and resource allocation to support schedule achievement and operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring construction progress, evaluating performance metrics, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risk and maintain project commitments.
  • Supporting the integration of sustainability-focused solutions into project delivery while identifying opportunities to improve environmental and operational performance.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, contractual requirements, and company procedures.
  • Leading constructability reviews, workface planning initiatives, and execution strategies that enhance field productivity and project outcomes.
  • Resolving complex field challenges and removing barriers that may impact project safety, quality, cost, or schedule performance.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Preparing and communicating progress reports, forecasts, productivity analyses, and performance updates to project leadership.
  • Promoting a respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment where all team members are empowered to contribute to project success.
  • Championing continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen workforce engagement, execution excellence, and operational performance.

What you'll bring to the role

You are an accomplished construction leader with extensive experience managing soft craft operations on large industrial projects. You possess the leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and operational insight required to oversee multiple craft disciplines while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Key qualifications include:

  • University degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or a trade qualification supported by extensive construction leadership experience.
  • Typically 15+ years of industrial construction experience with significant responsibility for craft supervision and field execution.
  • Proven experience leading soft craft construction scopes, including painting, coatings, insulation, scaffolding, fireproofing, refractory, or specialty construction services.
  • Demonstrated success managing large craft workforces and multiple subcontractors in industrial, energy, chemicals, mining, power, manufacturing, LNG, or major capital project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, productivity management, workface planning, quality control, and field execution best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing workforce plans, execution strategies, and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, resource forecasting, and construction performance measurement.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence positive project outcomes while managing competing priorities and complex project requirements.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership, compliance, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
  • Experience supporting sustainability initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and organizational transformation efforts.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction systems, processes, tools, and industry best practices.
