Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified candidates to consider for a Lumber Trader role with our corporate office in Atlanta, GA. The Lumber Trader role is responsible for maximizing value for Georgia Pacific's lumber manufacturing facilities through fast-paced information gathering, dynamic pricing and open market trading (sales) functions. The role develops a clear understanding of customer needs, available alternatives, and the factors that influence purchasing decisions, then uses market knowledge and sound judgment to create solutions that generate mutual benefit for customers and the business. Collaborating closely with customers, mill operations, and other internal capabilities, the trader develops new business opportunities, supports mill asset strategies, optimizes inventory and profitability, and expands market reach. This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in office.

Georgia-Pacific's Lumber business is a leading manufacturer of Southern Yellow Pine lumber, supplying high-quality products for residential, commercial, and industrial construction. Backed by decades of innovation and a commitment to responsible sourcing, GP delivers reliable building materials that help customers build stronger communities.


What You Will Do

  • Execute account management strategy that results in profitable growth opportunities with assigned accounts.
  • Demonstrate trading excellence, the right combination of dynamic pricing and volume, which maximizes value for the business.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships which increase open market trading alternatives and contract opportunities.
  • Use metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities and develop effective trading strategies and maintain mill health.
  • Provide timely and accurate market intelligence to support strategic sales decisions.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, or Forestry
  • Customer service and relationship management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in lumber, forest products, building materials, or commodities trading
  • Knowledge of Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) products and market dynamics
  • Experience creating solutions that drive profitability and customer value
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing, mill operations, or production planning teams
