Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Vocational or technical machining training is a plus. Lean manufacturing knowledge or experience preferred. Experience Requirements Minimum 5 years of manual machining experience. Experience operating manual engine lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs), and surface grinders preferred. Proven ability to machine parts to tight tolerances of .001 inch. Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, coated components, and composite materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions. Preferred Qualifications Horizontal mill experience preferred. Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling selection, and workholding methods. Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges. Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor other machinists. Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the work shift. Capable of handling machine tooling, fixtures, and machined components safely. Ability to perform detailed measurements and inspections accurately. Must consistently follow PPE and machine safety requirements. Job Duties Set up and operate manual machining equipment for turning, threading, milling, boring, and related operations. Select, install, and adjust tooling, chucks, jaws, fixtures, and cutting tools. Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment to verify quality and specifications. Deburr, clean, and prepare completed components for the next operation. Support pump and rotating equipment repair projects while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
