About This Role

To conduct and lead research in companion animal nutrition and metabolism, with a focus on, but not limited to, protein and energy metabolism in domestic cats. The position will coordinate feeding trails, develop research methods, conduct laboratory and statistical analyses, prepare scientific publications and reports, contribute to grant proposals, and help mentor graduate students.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Biochemistry, Nutrition, or a related discipline.

The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research team.
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop and execute detailed research protocols.
* Strong scientific writing skills, including a record of peer-reviewed publications.
* Hands-on experience working with domestic cats.
* Experience with indirect calorimetry, stable isotope techniques and/or protein and energy metabolism research.
* Knowledge of feline behavior.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
