Posting Summary
The Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice is inviting applications for the Ronald V. Clarke Visiting Scholar Program for 2026-2027 & 2027-2028. This program is designed to attract distinguished senior scholars with expertise in environmental criminology, situational crime prevention, wildlife crime prevention, and/or crime science. The aim is to strengthen the School's research community, support mentorship of students and faculty, and further enrich its intellectual environment through workshops, seminars, and public engagement activities.
Selected scholars will contribute to the School's academic life in several key ways, including teaching at least one course aligned with their area of expertise, facilitating professional development sessions for faculty and graduate students focused on their research, and providing mentorship to emerging scholars in related fields. In addition, they will be expected to participate in relevant conferences and may help lead panels or presentations that showcase their work during their visit.

Overview
The School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark was founded in 1974 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature-the only school in America with this kind of legal charter. Its purposes have always been to (1) produce scholarship of the highest quality on crime and justice (2) provide state and local justice agencies with crucial evidence and consultation about the policy and practice of criminal justice, and (3) produce graduates who take their places as productive and respected scholars in the field.

The Ron V. Clarke Visiting Scholar Program honors the legacy of Ronald V. Clarke, an internationally recognized criminologist whose scholarship transformed the study and prevention of crime. The fellowship brings accomplished scholars and practitioners to Rutgers to promote innovation, evidence-based practice, and meaningful engagement between research, policy, and practice.
