Job Description

The Senior Clinical Recruiter serves as a strategic recruitment partner to department and organizational leaders and is responsible for managing the full recruitment lifecycle for an assigned portfolio of faculty, provider, and clinical searches. This role requires strong sourcing expertise, sound judgment, exceptional relationship management, and the ability to successfully recruit in competitive and hard-to-fill healthcare markets.
The successful candidate will take a proactive and consultative approach to recruitment by developing sourcing strategies, identifying and engaging prospective candidates, advising hiring leaders on market conditions, and providing a professional and responsive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for an assigned portfolio of physician, advanced practice provider, clinical faculty, and other clinical searches.
  • Partner with department chairs, division chiefs, administrators, hiring managers, and other leaders to understand workforce needs, position requirements, recruitment priorities, and desired candidate profiles.
  • Develop and execute individualized recruitment strategies based on specialty, labor market conditions, organizational priorities, and the unique needs of each search.
  • Proactively identify and engage active and passive candidates through direct sourcing, professional networks, databases, email and phone outreach, social media, residency and fellowship programs, professional associations, conferences, referrals, and other recruitment channels.
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines for current and anticipated faculty, provider, and clinical recruitment needs.
  • Conduct initial candidate screenings and recruitment conversations to assess qualifications, professional interests, career goals, geographic considerations, and overall alignment with the opportunity.
  • Present qualified candidates to hiring departments and provide consultation regarding candidate interest, market competitiveness, recruitment challenges, and recommended next steps.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process, ensuring timely communication and a professional, welcoming candidate experience.
  • Partner with hiring departments to plan and coordinate candidate interviews and onsite visits, ensuring a professional, organized, and welcoming experience for candidates.
  • Support the recruitment process through selection decisions, offer development, acceptance, and pre-employment activities.
  • Advise hiring leaders on recruitment strategy, candidate availability, specialty-specific market conditions, compensation considerations, candidate expectations, and other factors affecting successful recruitment.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with residency and fellowship programs, professional associations, specialty organizations, recruitment vendors, and other external partners.
  • Represent the University of Missouri School of Medicine at conferences, career fairs, residency and fellowship events, and other recruitment activities as needed.
  • Coordinate with external recruitment firms, advertising partners, sourcing platforms, and other recruitment vendors when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment documentation and candidate activity within applicant tracking, recruitment, and reporting systems.
  • Monitor recruitment activity, candidate pipelines, sourcing effectiveness, time-to-fill, recruitment outcomes, and other relevant metrics.
  • Identify recruitment trends and recommend sourcing strategies, technologies, partnerships, and other approaches to strengthen the School of Medicine's ability to attract and hire clinical talent.
  • Partner with internal teams supporting credentialing, immigration, compensation, onboarding, human resources, and other recruitment-related functions to support successful candidate transitions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of University policies, recruitment practices, employment regulations, and applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Perform other related duties and recruitment initiatives as assigned.

Work Arrangement:

This position is onsite in Columbia, Missouri, and is not eligible for remote work.
The role requires regular in-person collaboration with recruitment team members, department leaders, faculty, candidates, and other internal partners. Travel may also be required for candidate recruitment activities, conferences, career fairs, residency and fellowship outreach, and other business needs.

Shift

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
With the ability to be flexible based on recruitment activities and business needs.
Occasional evening activities or travel may be required for candidate events, conferences, career fairs, department activities, or other recruitment-related needs.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, healthcare administration, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience recruiting physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical faculty, healthcare professionals, or other difficult-to-fill professional positions.
  • Demonstrated experience with proactive sourcing and passive candidate engagement.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent searches and partnering directly with senior leaders, hiring managers, department chairs, division chiefs, or other organizational leadership.
  • Knowledge of physician, faculty, and advanced practice provider recruitment practices and healthcare labor markets.
  • Experience recruiting within an academic medical center, health system, physician practice, healthcare organization, or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems, sourcing platforms, professional databases, social media, and other recruitment technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, consultative, negotiation, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities and multiple searches in a high-volume, fast-paced recruitment environment.
  • Working knowledge of physician immigration considerations, including J-1 and H-1B processes, preferred.
  • Certified Physician/Provider Recruitment Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.
  • Professional human resources or recruitment certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or a related credential, preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $60,944 - $100,000 annually
Grade: GGS - 011
