Description
The OR Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room while ensuring excellent patient service and delivery of care. Under the direction of the OR Manager, the OR Lead provides operational oversight, coordinates workflow and staffing activities, supports clinical staff, and promotes safe, efficient, and compliant surgical services. This position serves as a resource to staff, physicians, and support departments while maintaining consistency across multiple surgical service lines. This is a full-time role, working Monday - Friday 8-hour shifts as seen fit for surgery out of our Edina location. This position will be employed through Revo Health, working closely with Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health) and its operating divisions. Essential Job Functions:
- Provides day-to-day oversight of Operating Room operations to ensure safe, efficient workflow and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with OR manager to coordinate to staff surgical schedule and maintain appropriate departmental coverage.
- Serves as a resource to Lead nurses and staff regarding operational concerns, workflow issues, and departmental processes.
- Functions as Lead nurse and provides direct patient care coverage when necessary to maintain departmental operations.
- Monitors operational processes across multiple surgical specialties and service lines to promote consistency and best practices.
- Acts as an escalation point for operational issues prior to involvement of the OR Manager, when appropriate.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance, repairs, and service requests with vendors, biomedical services, and facility departments.
- Assists in ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are completed and documented according to organizational requirements.
- Maintains vendor representative contact information and equipment support resources.
- Collaborates with purchasing and supply chain teams to ensure availability of supplies, equipment, implants, and specialty items required for surgical procedures.
- Reviews upcoming surgical schedules to verify implant and specialty equipment availability.
- Coordinates with vendors and internal departments to address supply-related concerns impacting patient care or surgical schedules.
- Participates in Quality projects, identifying issues, contributing ideas for improvement, and assisting in collection and analysis of operational data.
- Assists with departmental audits and process improvement initiatives.
- Monitors compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and departmental procedures.
- Promotes adherence to OR nursing standards and evidence-based practices.
- Fosters effective communication among surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, sterile processing personnel, vendors, and support departments.
- Assists in managing controllable expenses through responsible utilization of surgery center resources.
- Collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and ensure a smooth surgical experience.
- Participates in continuing education activities and departmental educational requirements.
- Reports occurrences through the center's established occurrence reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of three to five years of Operating Room experience required.
- Previous charge nurse, leadership, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience preferred.
- Multi-specialty surgical services experience preferred.

Working Conditions:
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the shift.
- Must be able to frequently perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
- Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).
