Job Summary
This position serves as a subject matter expert to provide program administration and consultation including planning, development and implementation of the Department of Mathematics related functions, projects and activities. The position will work closely and collaboratively with adjunct faculty and Dual Enrollment partners to support a variety of initiatives that promote student success and retention. The position indirectly oversees online adjunct and Dual Enrollment faculty, including providing new employee orientation, training, mentoring, and evaluation. This position monitors academic integrity as well as writes and clarifies department policies and procedures to support College and District policies. This position directly interacts students as well and responds to student issues and requests for resources and support. The position reports to the Faculty Chair of the Mathematics department, a department within the Academic Affairs division, and participates in department meetings and other activities. This position is available to make decisions for the department when needed by the Chair and also serves as an alternate for the Instructional Council. Essential Functions
25% - Trains, mentors, and evaluates online Mathematics and Dual Enrollment instructors: Provides orientation, training, mentoring, consultation, and ongoing support to online adjunct and Dual Enrollment Mathematics instructors to promote instructional quality, consistency, and student success. Supports the onboarding of new instructors and provides guidance regarding course expectations, instructional practices, technology, academic policies, department procedures, and student support resources. Monitors instructional needs and provides feedback and recommendations related to instructor performance, professional development, and instructional effectiveness. Participates in the evaluation of instructors in accordance with applicable College, District, and Department policies and procedures. 25% - Supports and implements initiatives for the Faculty Chair, including policy and procedure updates, student success, retention: Serves as a subject-matter expert and resource to the Faculty Chair in the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of Mathematics Department initiatives and activities. Assists with the development, review, clarification, and implementation of Department policies, procedures, processes, and instructional practices to ensure alignment with College and District requirements. Supports initiatives focused on student success, retention, persistence, and completion and provides recommendations regarding department operations and instructional needs. Represents the Department as needed and makes decisions on behalf of the Department when delegated by the Faculty Chair. 20% - Oversees and directs development of Mathematics courses to support annual college-level student learning outcomes: Leads and coordinates the development, review, and enhancement of Mathematics courses and instructional resources in support of annual college-level student learning outcomes. Collaborates with faculty and appropriate College personnel to review course content, instructional materials, assessments, and student performance data to identify opportunities for improvement. Uses course data, assessment results, student feedback, and other relevant information to inform course redevelopment and instructional strategies. Coordinates implementation of course and instructional improvements and promotes consistency and alignment across applicable Mathematics course offerings, including online and Dual Enrollment courses. 20% - Provides a variety of support to students and other departments, including, but not limited to: Testing, Advising, Prerequisites, and Dual Enrollment: Provides subject-matter expertise, guidance, and support to students, faculty, staff, and other departments regarding Mathematics courses, academic requirements, and related processes. Responds to student questions, concerns, and requests for resources or support related to testing, advising, prerequisites, course placement, course selection, Dual Enrollment, and other Mathematics-related matters. Collaborates with appropriate departments and College personnel to clarify requirements, resolve concerns, identify resources, and facilitate appropriate academic pathways. Supports communication and coordination between the Mathematics Department and other College departments, programs, and Dual Enrollment partners to promote student access, success, and retention. 10% - Identifies, researches, and resolves Department and student issues, including Academic Integrity, Testing and other concerns based on District, College and Department policies and procedures: Monitors, identifies, researches, and resolves academic, instructional, departmental, and student concerns in accordance with District, College, and Department policies and procedures. Reviews and addresses academic integrity concerns and testing-related issues, including researching relevant information, consulting with appropriate faculty and administrators, documenting findings, and recommending or implementing appropriate resolutions. Interprets and clarifies applicable policies and procedures and provides guidance to faculty, staff, and students regarding their application. Identifies recurring issues and recommends changes to Department practices, policies, or procedures to improve consistency, compliance, and student support. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and two (2) years of related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in the area of assignment. A Master's Degree may be required for some assignments. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. The standard work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm during the Academic Year. This position may be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs. May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. Unofficial transcripts must be included in order to be considered for this position. Tentative Start Date January 2027.
