Position Title: Technician I - Met Lab

JobSummary:

This position is an entry-level laboratory and manufacturing support role responsible for preparing samples for analysis and performing basic metallurgical testing. Working under the supervision of a Group Leader, this individual will support testing, data collection, and sample preparation activities while maintaining quality and safety standards.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare material samples for metallurgical analysis and examination.
  • Perform mechanical testing using standard equipment, including hardness, tensile, tension, magnetic, and resistivity testing.
  • Conduct metallographic testing utilizing polishing equipment, etchants, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate test data and evaluation results.
  • Operate basic metallurgical and laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support operations within Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, or Heat Treating areas.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work under direct supervision.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing, production, fabrication, machining, or industrial experience.
  • Experience operating saws, drill presses, machine tools, or similar equipment.
  • Experience working with metallurgical or laboratory equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, and testing methods.
  • Forklift experience or certification.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety and quality.
