Job Summary:

The Director of Marketing Strategy & Operations is responsible for leading the operational engine of the marketing organization, translating the marketing strategy set by the VP of Marketing into integrated plans and programs that drive measurable revenue growth. This role leads the creative department, directs integrated marketing and campaign planning, oversees and drives the tradeshow and event program, and governs the enterprise marketing calendar, while partnering closely with Supplier Marketing, Product Marketing, Sales, CRM, and Digital teams to deliver coordinated go-to-market programs. The Director brings deep analytical expertise, using performance data, customer insights, and market intelligence to prioritize programs, recommend investment, and demonstrate marketing's contribution to pipeline and revenue. This role ensures marketing programs are executed with discipline, speed, quality, and measurable business impact. The Director will manage the marketing operating budget, making sound decisions that balance growth objectives, customer engagement, and financial accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Lead marketing operations, translating the marketing strategy set by the VP of Marketing into an annual plan and integrated programs across creative, campaigns, and events that support revenue and growth objectives
  • Lead and develop the creative department and marketing team, setting creative direction and ensuring work is on brand, high quality, and aligned to business priorities
  • Partner with Supplier Marketing and Product teams to align supplier and product programs with integrated marketing plans and shared revenue goals
  • Manage marketing budgets, including forecasting, spend oversight, and recommending investment toward the programs and channels with the highest return
  • Direct integrated marketing planning and govern the enterprise marketing calendar to align campaigns with business priorities
  • Oversee and drive the tradeshow and event program, setting objectives, managing investment, and holding the team accountable for budget, supplier participation, and revenue outcomes, with day-to-day execution led by the team
  • Establish and improve marketing processes, workflows, and reporting to drive efficiency, visibility, and accountability
  • Lead marketing analytics and performance measurement, defining KPIs, attribution, and dashboards that connect marketing activity to pipeline, revenue, and return on investment
  • Use customer, market, and sales data to identify growth opportunities, inform targeting and segmentation, and recommend where marketing should focus to drive revenue
  • Report marketing performance and revenue contribution to the VP of Marketing and senior leadership, translating results into clear insights and recommendations
  • Partner with Sales, Product Marketing, Supplier Marketing, CRM, and Digital teams to deliver coordinated marketing initiatives that grow revenue and support supplier and customer objectives
  • Directly or indirectly responsible for product quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management to support the business.



Span and Scope



  • Direct Reports: Yes (approx. 4) - Marketing Managers, Marketing Assistant, Marketing Coordinator
  • Leadership Responsibility: Leads the creative department and marketing team, including prioritization, coaching, development, and performance management
  • Focus/Influence: Drives execution of the enterprise marketing plan, integrated campaigns, and revenue performance; influences cross-functional alignment with Sales, Product Marketing, Supplier Marketing, CRM, and Digital teams
  • Decision-Making Authority: Exercises judgment over budget allocation, campaign prioritization, resource planning, and program execution within the strategy set by the VP of Marketing; escalates significant risks, trade-offs, or investment decisions as needed
  • Complexity: High; balances enterprise marketing investment, integrated campaigns, competing priorities, and cross-functional dependencies requiring strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and influence

Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including marketing operations, integrated marketing, campaign management, marketing analytics, or related functions.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing employees, including coaching, performance management, goal setting, employee development, and talent planning.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar marketing budgets or complex marketing investment portfolios, with a record of linking investment to revenue outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated marketing plans across creative, CRM, digital, events, content, and sales enablement channels, in partnership with supplier and product marketing teams.
  • Proven ability to build and manage marketing calendars, campaign workflows, operating processes, performance reporting, and cross-functional execution plans.
  • Proven track record of using data and analytics to improve marketing performance and deliver measurable revenue growth.
  • Experience leading or overseeing a creative team or in-house creative department.

  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills, including ability to evaluate trade-offs, prioritize resources, manage scope, and make recommendations with financial and revenue impact.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including experience with marketing attribution, KPI development, and performance dashboards, with ability to translate campaign, customer, sales, and financial data into actions that grow revenue and improve return on investment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and vendor management skills, with comfort influencing senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, and executive-level follow-through.
  • Creative leadership, with the ability to set creative direction, evaluate creative work, and build a high-performing creative team.
