Data Engineer

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Data Engineer position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

The Data Engineer supports the bridge between business stakeholders and technical execution by assisting with analysis, data pipeline maintenance, and routine enterprise data management tasks. Working under the direction of Business Intelligence leadership, this role contributes to maintaining Snowflake data environments, BI tool reports and platform, building basic ETL/ELT data pipelines, supporting SaaS integrations, and upholding data quality standards. Also, the Data Engineer helps translate foundational business requirements into functional reporting outputs and assists in driving data operational efficiency across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:


  1. Assists business units with gathering and documenting basic functional requirements for business intelligence and reporting tasks.
  2. Helps convert defined business requirements into basic technical tasks, standard reporting metrics, and user stories.
  3. Supports in building, testing, and maintaining routine ETL/ELT pipelines to move data from SaaS platforms and internal systems into central data stores.
  4. Performs routine administration and maintenance support within the Snowflake data warehouse, including monitoring query performance, basic user role management, and table organization.
  5. Executes data quality checks, updates data catalogs, and assists in enforcing enterprise data stewardship and lineage practices.
  6. Assists in creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation for BI reporting assets, data workflows, and user guidelines.
  7. Collaborates with IT infrastructure and application development team members during system integration testing and updates.
  8. Monitors regular SaaS integration data syncs (e.g., Salesforce, CRMA, ERP systems) and assists in troubleshooting basic data flow exceptions.
  9. Supports business process mapping activities to capture workflow details for data optimization initiatives.
  10. Participates as a technical support team member on cross-functional BI, reporting, and data management projects.
  11. Prepares background materials and updates for regular data governance alignment meetings.
  12. Delivers basic reporting guidance and functional support to end-users on standardized BI tools and dashboards.
  13. Maintains confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Essential Skills:

Foundational Data Engineering & Snowflake: Basic familiarity with relational database design, SQL querying, and fundamental concepts of Snowflake architecture.


SaaS Integration Awareness: Understanding of enterprise SaaS platforms (e.g., Salesforce, CRMA, cloud ERP systems) and basic data extraction techniques via APIs or standard connectors.


Business Process Awareness: Foundational understanding of business workflows, process mapping concepts, and structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Lean, BPMN).


Data Quality & Governance Support: Knowledge of data management fundamentals, including data validation, metadata logging, and user access control.


Analytical Thinking: Detail-oriented focus with the ability to troubleshoot reporting discrepancies and interpret quantitative data clearly.


Technical Writing & Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for producing clear documentation.


Adaptability & Confidentiality: Strong organizational skills, discretion when handling sensitive data, and eagerness to learn new technologies.



Work Environment:

This position operates under a hybrid work schedule based out of the office in Blue Springs, Missouri. While performing the duties of this job, the environment consists of general office work where the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear, see, and use hands.



Job Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related technical field.


Five years or more of hands-on experience in business intelligence support, junior data engineering, data analysis, or a related technical role. Core Technical Skills: Hands-on experience writing standard SQL queries and working with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake. SaaS & Reporting Tools: Basic experience working with cloud application data (e.g., Salesforce, CRMA) and modern BI visualization tools (e.g., Tableau). Methodologies: Basic understanding of project task tracking, process flow mapping, and analytical documentation.


Preferred:Data management certification, Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, foundational BI analytics certifications, exposure to data governance concepts or ISO-compliant documentation environments.



Compensation:The pay range for this position is $90,686 to $113,358 a year. May increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
