Job Summary

This position is the pharmacy manager for UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and PCH Infusion Pharmacy areas. The Manager works closely with the Oncology/IDS Assistant Chief to identify areas of improvement and solutions, ensure regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness and efficiency. The Infusion Pharmacy Manager ensures Infusion pharmacy areas maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission and professional practice standards, as well as University and department policies, procedures and standards. The Infusion Pharmacy Manager is also responsible for supervision of pharmacist and technician supervisors and staff. The Infusion Pharmacy Manager maintains oversight of documentation and assessment of staff competency and training. The Infusion Manager works closely with the Assistant Chief Pharmacist and Infusion pharmacy staff to facilitate optimum drug utilization, preparation and waste; oversees operational aspects of Outpatient Oncology and Infusion pharmacy services, inventory control and regulatory compliance. Assists the Chief Pharmacist and other members of the management team to plan, implement and monitor new programs and processes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy services. Plans and coordinates the development of pharmacists and technicians to meet regulatory requirements and patient needs. Serves as departmental liaison with Patient Care Services and other departments. Participates on departmental and interdisciplinary committees. #CA-DS

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

  • California Pharmacist License. Out-of-state Pharmacists eligible to apply. If licensed out-of-state at the time of hire, must obtain and provide a California Pharmacist licensure within six (6) months of the hire date.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent training
  • Lead or supervisory experience within a hospital or Infusion Pharmacy setting, or completion of a Health System Pharmacy Administration residency
  • Knowledge of CA BOP Sterile Compounding regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of USP 797 and USP 800
  • Ability to prepare master formula records for compounded sterile products
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects along with daily, weekly and monthly tasks
  • Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others
  • Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board Certification [e.g., Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Board of Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP), Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist (BCSCP)], or equivalent
  • LEAN Certifications
  • Master's degree [e.g., Master of Science (MS), Master in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Business Administration (MBA)], or equivalent
  • Completion of Post Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Oncology Residency Training
  • Management experience within a hospital or Infusion Pharmacy setting
  • Experience with clinical trials or investigational drugs service
  • Sterile Product or Hazardous Drug management experience
  • Experience in EPIC/BEACON or equivalent CPOE

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.

The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.
