Overview

We are looking to hire an RPA Developer with deep Automation Anywhere experience to design, build, and support automations for our Advanced Energy programs. The role sits in the Implementation Services group of the Advanced Energy Technology (AET) team and delivers automation to the business on a billable basis, with a utilization target of 80%.

AET runs the technology behind TRC's utility energy-efficiency, clean-energy, and incentive programs, including intelligent document processing, agentic AI workflows, and Azure-native platforms. The RPA Developer will automate high-volume, rules-based program operations such as application intake, eligibility checks, rebate processing, and data entry across utility systems. Much of this work involves solutions built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.

The role works closely with onshore and offshore teams, program operations staff, and Power Platform developers.

If you are an experienced Automation Anywhere developer who enjoys turning manual processes into reliable, unattended automation in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy bots in Automation Anywhere Automation 360 (A360), including Control Room configuration, scheduling, credential vaults, and work queues.
  • Build automations that read from and write to Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Dataverse, and work with Power Platform developers to decide when a process belongs in A360 versus Power Automate.
  • Work with program operations and business analysts to identify automation candidates, run process assessments, and estimate ROI.
  • Write process design documents (PDDs) and solution design documents (SDDs) and keep runbooks current.
  • Build automations that use Document Automation / IDP to extract data from applications, invoices, and supporting documents.
  • Integrate bots with REST APIs, the Dataverse Web API, SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, and utility web portals.
  • Build robust exception handling, logging, and retry logic so bots run unattended with minimal intervention.
  • Monitor production bots, triage failures, and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs.
  • Maintain 80% billable utilization, tracking time accurately against client and program charge codes and flagging capacity or scope issues early.
  • Follow team standards for source control, code review, security, and change management.
  • Partner with AI engineers to combine RPA with LLM-based and agentic workflows where they fit better than rules alone.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to a reusable automation component library.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years building and supporting production RPA solutions, with at least 2 years in Automation Anywhere (A360 preferred; v11 migration experience a plus).
  • Automation Anywhere Certified Advanced RPA Professional, or ability to earn it within 6 months of hire.
  • Hands-on experience with Control Room, bot scheduling, work queues, credential vault, and unattended bots.
  • Experience integrating automations with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Dataverse (UI or API).
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, C#/.NET, JavaScript, VBScript).
  • Proficiency with SQL, REST APIs, JSON/XML, and Excel automation.
  • Proven track record writing PDDs/SDDs and working directly with business users to map processes.
  • Experience in a client-facing or billable delivery role, including time tracking against utilization targets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with offshore and onshore teams.
  • Power Platform experience, including Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows), Power Apps, and Dataverse security roles.
  • Microsoft certifications such as PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant) or PL-500 (Power Automate RPA Developer).
  • Experience with Automation Anywhere Document Automation / IQ Bot or other IDP tools.
  • Experience with Automation Anywhere AI Agent Studio, generative AI, or LLM-assisted automation.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with UiPath or other RPA platforms.
  • Experience with an RPA Center of Excellence (CoE) model, including governance, pipeline intake, and bot performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with the Energy Efficiency Domain a plus
