Focused on accuracy and standardization, the Academic Credential Evaluator provides comprehensive academic reviews to ensure a consistent admission process. This position specializes in the rigorous assessment of transcripts,

While primarily data-driven, the Evaluator remains responsible for the integrity of the applicant file, managing errors, waiving requirements where appropriate, and serving as a primary point of contact for explaining admissions policies to stakeholders. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note: Some state job postings state you can qualify by an 'equivalent combination of education and experience.' If that language appears above, then you may qualify through
EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. |
| Essential Job Duties |
- Comprehensive Academic Evaluation: Perform high-volume, precise calculations of "Recalculated GPAs" using university-specific weighting scales and convert diverse grading systems (international, 100-point, etc.) into standardized internal metrics.
- Admissions Decision Authority: Recommend final admission decisions for a designated territory or population (7,000 - 10,000 applicants annually) based on a rigorous analysis of transcripts, test scores, and Minimum Course Requirements (MCR).
- Holistic Review & Scoring: Conduct standardized, rubric-based reviews of supplemental materials, including essays, resumes, and letters of recommendation, to assess non-cognitive variables and alignment with university values.
- Academic Integrity & Verification: Conduct academic integrity monitoring by cross-referencing applicant information against official transcripts and/or test scores.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, families, and high school counselors to explain admissions policies, troubleshoot application issues, and de-escalate sensitive situations.
- Records & System Management: Maintain data integrity within the CRM (Slate) and secondary systems (Banner, Common App, CFNC) by accurately managing and completing tasks to update applicant data, such as major changes or term changes.
|
| Other Work Responsibilities |
- Process Calibration: Participate in "norming" sessions with the evaluation team to ensure scoring consistency and reduce bias across the applicant pool.
- Training & Mentorship: Assist in the onboarding of new team members by reviewing their initial work for accuracy and providing feedback on departmental procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the refinement of the Admissions Training Manual and participate in brainstorming sessions to optimize the application workflow.
- Support large-scale, on-campus admissions events, including Open House and Admitted Student Days.
|
| Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
- Technical Proficiency in Admissions Software: Experience utilizing Slate (Technolutions) or similar higher-education CRM platforms and student information systems (e.g., Banner).
- Analytical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex academic data, including international transcripts and varying secondary school grading scales.
- Customer Service Skills: Proven success in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders while maintaining professional standards.
- High-Volume Workload Management: Strong organizational skills to manage a large volume of files under tight deadlines with high accuracy.
