Description

    • About the role:

The Financial Crimes department is looking for an inquisitive, resourceful Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you'll help support the department's efforts to detect, prevent, investigate, and report illicit financial activity.

We're looking for someone who enjoys asking questions, exploring unfamiliar data, validating results, and thinking creatively to solve complex problems. You'll work closely with management, business users, technical teams, database administrators, and vendors, building strong partnerships and providing excellent customer service along the way.

Success in this role requires a mix of analytical thinking and technical curiosity to solve problems. Your work will include developing Tableau dashboards, creating SQL reports, researching and resolving data issues, automating processes, and supporting projects from initial concept through implementation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, collaborating across teams, and making a meaningful impact through technology and analytics.

      What you'll do:

      • Gather business requirements and translate them into technology solutions.
      • Provide timely and professional support to the department.
      • Develop, maintain, and enhance Tableau dashboards.
      • Use statistical and other analytical techniques to spot unusual patterns, assess likelihood, and turn data into useful insights.
      • Write SQL queries used for reporting, analysis, and data validation.
      • Research and resolve data quality, reporting, and system issues.
      • Participate in quality control and validation activities.
      • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
      • Document business rules, data definitions, processes, and reporting logic.

      What we are looking for:

      • Bachelor's degree required; strong commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of degree; advanced degrees and certifications are a plus.
      • Two or more years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and data validation.
      • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to apply analytical techniques to business problems and explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Proven ability to create effective data visualizations and user-friendly dashboards, preferably using Tableau.
      • Proficient SQL development skills, including experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or newer.
      • Proficient preparing, cleansing, and transforming data for reporting and analytics.
      • Self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
      • Proficient documentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, business requirements, and processes.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
      • Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, business processes, and data sources.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
      • Experience building SAP Web Intelligence (BIC) reports is preferred.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

      A successful candidate will:

      • Enjoy figuring out why numbers do not match instead of accepting the first answer.
      • Treat internal business units like customers and focus on making their work easier.
      • Are comfortable asking questions when a request is vague or incomplete.
      • Take ownership of investigating problems and recommending next steps.
      • Can balance being responsive with making sure the answer is accurate.
      • Enjoy translating between business needs and technical solutions.
      • Can explain what you find, what you still need to confirm, and what will happen next.
      • Enjoy giving feedback and contributing what you learn to a team knowledge base.
