Find your calling at Mercy! Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Work across all Critical Care and Med/Surg units, gaining experience with a variety of patient populations and care specialties. Typically a different unit each shift. Position Details: Patient Care Associate Department: Float Pool - Mercy STL - Ballas Campus ???? Hours / Shift: Nights (7pm-7am) ONLY Part Time - ( 2, 12 hour shifts per week) ???? Job Duties ???? Opportunity for Growth: Advance through the career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond! ???? Responsibilities for Patient Care Associate (PCA): Obtain vital signs and document in the electronic medical record system ???? Assist with patient care needs, including: Meals Bathing Toileting Ambulation Mobility assistance Patient transport Provide clerical support as needed ???? Responsibilities for Patient Care Technician (PCT): Perform all PCA job duties Phlebotomy / blood cultures Enteral feeding Wound care IV / Foley removal Tracheostomy care & suctioning ???? Training Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program Gain hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment ???? No Experience? No Problem! Mercy provides a required 175-hour training program that meets Department of Health and Senior Services requirements Training is completed during new hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days ???? Certifications Requirements: BLS required within 1 month of hire PCA competencies completed within 3 months of hire Qualifications ???? Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. CNA/CPTC or Currently enrolled in a healthcare program OR current Mercy co-worker ???? Experience: None required ???? Physical Requirements Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds regularly ???? Prolonged standing and walking during shifts ???? Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat ????
